Another Crab’s Treasure is a Soulslike but for fans and newcomers to the series alike, creating a hilarious, exciting nautical knightly adventure for audiences of all ages.
The game was a 20/10 because the bossfights are really good starting at the desings of the enemys and combat skills, habilities and the variety of shells, it have a very big difficulty if you don't use all the skills of "Kril" but if you have played any Souls game the game turn more easy
Another Crab's Treasure is a soulslike action and platform game that manages to come up with some original ideas and knows how to entertain. It is a pity that it drags a bit in the ending, stretching the last section too long, but overall it is an adventure that we recommend, both for its good combat system and for its story, which in a mostly cheerful and comic way tells about the evil of pollution and capitalism.
While the Soulslike genre is no stranger to cute indie entries or a sense of humor, there's nothing quite like Another Crab's Treasure on the market. It affectionately parodies many Souls games in its Sands Between, while executing their tropes with all the passion of a hardcore fan. Another Crab’s Treasure's family-friendly face hides surprising savagery, but doesn't neglect anyone who wants the relaxed experience it teases. Even its mechanics are often recycled from other Soulsbornes, but used in novel ways, even if there's some polish missing here and there. Delving into Another Crab's Treasure will unearth a mixture of the familiar and the unknown, the perfect accomplice to its quirky journey through the deep, blue sea.
Although far from the highest quality Soulslike, Another Crab’s Treasure is an original, intensely likable one. Its sharp script is backed up with a fun gameplay conceit, wrapped up in a package with a whole lot of character.
Encouraged by Aggro Crab to try the game out on Steam Deck, I was impressed with how well Another Crab’s Treasure performs on the handheld PC device. Its visuals popped on the smaller screen, and the performance rarely dipped below 30 FPS, often climbing higher, even to 60 FPS at some points. Locking the Steam Deck’s FPS to 40 ultimately made for the smoothest experience, and Steam’s cloud saving worked flawlessly, making Another Crab’s Treasure an easy game to play at a desktop or on the couch, Steam Deck in hand.
So good! I'm genuinely shocked by how nuanced the combat is. I expected the game to be far more simple, but you'll eventually be bouncing around multiple mechanics and crafting really clever builds. Boss fights are awesome, platforming sections are awesome, super super pleased with this, way more than I thought I'd be!
A souls-like platforming adventure that takes place in a trash ridden ocean.
Game has great music and solid environments, and is very accessible for any type of players. Not a perfect experience all the way through, and has some grating moments, but after everything it's still a well produced game that's fun!
Charming, beautiful to look at, and funny - the game shows that a Souls-like doesn't have to be set in a grim grey world, yet the developers clearly understand the genre pretty well.
What they do not understand is enemy placement, platforming and difficulty in the context of a Souls-like. Of course I expected getting destroyed by stronger enemies and having to try again - that's why I bought the game - but I did not expect an empty hallway where it's impossible not to take damage, and if you do get unlucky, said damage lock you into an unavoidable death. I did not expect any wall or floor randomly glitching and letting you fall through in the middle of combat. I didn't expect a "difficulty spike" being simply having a thousand copies of a ranged enemy behind a strong melee one, rather than new enemy types.
So the game isn't bad, but it isn't great either - the balancing is way off in several segments of the game. Others are fantastic. It boils down to how you see games like Dark Souls and Elden Ring: did you like them because of the difficult but fair approach? This game isn't it. Do you like them because you can later say "I've beaten a difficult game" to your friends? You'll like Another Crab's Treasure.
Another overrated product. Janky and packedto the brim with cheap deaths. Certainly not the worst game of the year, but a regrettable purchase for me. This is game development moving backwards.
SummaryAs Kril the hermit crab, you'll need to wear the trash around you as shells to withstand attacks from enemies many times your size. Embark on an epic treasure hunt to buy back your repossessed shell, and discover the dark secrets behind the polluted ocean.
