Ask yourself this: did you play Outriders simply for its campaign and then drop it, or did you push yourself through its expeditions, going as far as you could go? For those in the former camp, Worldslayer probably isn’t for you. At least not at full price, anyway. You’ll blast through the campaign in 10 hours or less and then be left twiddling your thumbs. For those enamoured with Outriders‘ unique brand of high-octane combat seeking to max out their characters and optimise their builds, however, Worldslayer should be considered a must-have.
Outriders is extremely underated. The story is good, even the sidequests have depth. The combat is great fun. Higher difficulties are more rewarding. I common issue people say is they don't get enough loot. That's either a skill issues or they aren't doing any side quests which give you a decent reward at the end of each one. You can always sell your junk items aswell and then buy better ones at vendors. Even if you think you don't need items its always worth checking vendors as they commonly switch their items and have sales on. Not to mention you can upgrade items you enjoy using. There is plenty of ways to get good items in this game so I don't see how people complain about this. To upgrade weapons you need to either mine resources or dismantle items you don't need and with the materials you put them into upgrades.
The AI in this game is fairly decent with a wide range of enemies. Be sure to select good abilities as you will need these allot. You will struggle if you only use your gun. Its good to have different types instead of all being close range. Like 1 to charge health, 1 for crowed control and another to get yourself out a sticky situation like to many enemies pushing close to you.
The game runs really well for me and overall looks impressive which is to be expected for an Unreal Engine game. The movement is sort of like gears of war but would be nice if a control preset mapped dive and cover to the same button like Gears for those who are use to that. Some people mite prefer Outriders controls but I have played Gears since the 1st game they made so its difficult for me to suddenly switch to something else. I still constantly dive into walls after countless hours spent in game.
1 thing I really hate when most users review on these sites is they have 2 options, 10 or 0. They never point out good things about a game. They don't like a couple things and they say the hole game is terrible. Why not be constructive or even if you didn't like a couple things that doesn't make the overall game terrible. This game has great shooting mechanics, the characters are well portrayed, the sidequests even have cutscenes, most the NPCs speak when you walk near them, the art team did an awesome job and the overall world looks amazing with several different art styles, allot of the character modals look great, the bodies dismember when they get blown up or blasted with a big gun and so on. To say the game this game has nothing good about it simply isn't true even if you didn't like the story which personally I enjoyed. The amount of content you get in the world slayer edition is great and if you enjoy Gears of war then there is a good chance you will enjoy Outriders.
Good-
Some diverse build options. Great additions to the loot system from the base game. The Trial of Taya Gratar has a lot of potential to grow. The gunplay is top notch just like the base game.
Bad-
Terrible story. The story makes no sense and really does not add much to the game. Literally skip the story and if you play do it for the gameplay.
Thoughts-
Outriders: Worldslayer may have one of the most boring campaigns out of any other loot-centric game out there, but ultimately, it doesn’t matter. For better or for worse, Outriders: Worldslayer ultimately provides players with more Outriders. More of the boring story full of potential, more terribly-written dialogue, but also, more great systems to play around with, more possibilities for interesting builds and big damage numbers. And most importantly of all, more loot! Outriders: Worldslayer is the true pinnacle of the adage: skip the story, play the game. And for some people, that’s more than enough.
Outriders Worldslayer is the best version of Outriders. It’s full of satisfying shooting and a loot system that feels focused on fun more than on keeping you playing. Add a really fun endgame mode, and you’ve got plenty of reasons to return.
Outriders Worldslayer follows in the same vein of Outriders, quite literally: one year later, both its strengths (tight gameplay, loot management) and flaws (poor enemy variety, lackluster boss design, weak plot) have stayed exactly the same. Very likely you’ll enjoy this expansion if you liked the base game, but if you didn’t this won’t make you change your mind.
Outriders: Worldslayer continues the base game’s trends in every single way possible. Its story is bad, the antagonist is boring, and the zones feel wasted, but none of that matters because Outriders: Worldslayer still has some of the most interesting gameplay systems of any loot game. And most importantly, it’s still a lot of fun.
Outriders Worldslayer is an enjoyable but unambitious expansion that improves the endgame while falling short in many of the same areas as the base game before it. The story is still pretty lackluster, most boss fights are irritating slogs, and even with the added endgame grind there isn’t a ton of content to chew on, but most of what’s been added is at least ton of fun. The improved options with Pax Points, Ascension Points, and Apocalypse items are a stat-obsessed player’s dream and had me tweaking my build for maximum devastation, and the Trial of Tarya Gratar endgame dungeon is challenging and memorable if also a bit repetitive. Still, getting another chance to run amok on Enoch was time well spent.
For all its inconsistency, Outsiders still boasts some of the most intense and exciting PvE shooting around - just sometimes it’s you in a puddle on the floor instead of the waves of nameless goons. It’s silly and nerdy and dark and takes no prisoners as it violently demands your attention from start to finish.
Outriders Worldslayer is a 40 euro and around 4 hours long **** Story is 2-3 hours and the rest is the overhyped Trials of **** Qatar where you run through the same places over and over again. The devs hyped up the trials to be awesome. You meet such groundbreaking foes such as reskinned brood mothers, awesome lagspikes, server disconnections and much much more.
--- DO NOT BUY ---
I agree with Blondleboll.
I bought the Game in a Key-shop for 35€. I want my frickin money back.
Ill list off the new features so you can decide if its worth even a single dollar:
0 new Expeditions
1 new Set per Class
0 new skills
0 new skill variations
All the QOL changes promised are still not in the game. No stash size. No Item locking. No load outs.
No Balancing for existing items or mods
Campaign is 3 hours max
4 re skinned enemies
New endgame activity is a few new arenas with waves of enemies
--- DO NOT BUY ---
Borderline a scam, massively overhyped by the devs and there's virtually no content for a 40$ "DLC". The promised new "End Game" is the story dungeon but repeatable with no variation.
