Three of the episodes are rough-and-ready but vigorous Grand Guignol fun. The fourth is something else again, a marvellous mood piece of chilling intensity.
One of the best Amicus anthology movies, this is an enjoyable affair full of affectionate horror homage.
Skillfully written by Bloch and boasting an excellent cast, this omnibus is a bit better than most and was the feature debut of television director Peter Duffell.
Moves in many directions, but never too far from the mechanics of the high school play.
