What The Critics Said

All reviews are classified as one of five grades: Outstanding (4 points), Favorable (3), Mixed (2), Unfavorable (1) and Terrible (0). To calculate the Metascore, we divide total points achieved by the total points possible (i.e., 4 x the number of reviews), with the resulting percentage (multiplied by 100) being the Metascore. Low-down Waaaay too much information, but fascinating.

Jenna Jameson's X-rated autobiography is horrifying, gripping, sexy and pathetic.

A remarkably appealing and honest mess.

Lively, hellaciously entertaining, sharp, feisty and touching enough to earn Jameson the right to wear that "Heart Breaker" tattoo on her right butt cheek.

It is at different times moving, prurient, funny, smart, and, yes, sexy. Jameson is nobody's fool, and, though the book is often choppy and too long in places (at nearly 600 pages, it's a lot of Jenna), she ultimately does craft a wicked cautionary tale, as her subtitle suggests.

If anything, Jameson's book confirms many of the worst stereotypes of the porn industry: the scumbags who work behind the scenes, and the broken homes, rapes, exploitation and appetite for self-destruction of the people in front of the camera. It is a surprisingly sad tale.

Los Angeles Times Tracy Quan
While she's a down-to-earth spokeswoman for her industry, some of her advice to civilians is high-handed -- like telling women to choose between "The Rules" and her 10 commandments of oral sex. ("Thou Shalt Make Eye Contact.") A better strategy might be to combine good technique with playing hard to get.

Beyond affirmation and advice, Jameson's book is brimful of data that range from trivial to irrelevant...If you could overdose on autobiography, this book would be lethal.

She's explicit about bad boyfriends, crystal meth, and random sexual assaults, but she can't justify adult entertainment's central fallacy -- its reliance on patrons whom the performers don't really respect. An ill-fitting, queasy juxtaposition of disgust and come-on fills How To Make Love Like A Porn Star.

But who will read this advice? Not Jameson's hardcore fans - those men furiously rubbing away in basements of the internet. No, it will be a different breed of wanker: those who chuckle at "white trash"; those who love (from a distance) whatever infernal machines provide the Jerry Springer Show with its conveyor belt of clowns and rustics.

Arlene L gave it a10:
One of the best books i've ever read. She's very inspiring. It even helped me realize things in life I didn't even know I took for granted.

Goran I gave it a1:
Total trash. The book was as boring as Jameson is on screen. There are many porn stars who are both HOTTER on screen, and more interesting in real life, such as Aja, or Aria.

jenna h gave it a1:
