A mix between Lord of the Flies and The Cube, the most disappointing thing about the Maze Runner is the background, which we don't learn about until the end. It is supposed to be exciting and to compel us to watch the next two movies, but all it does is take credibility away from the entire story, which is already not very well-structured, being filled with pointless plot conveniences and generally all too linear frame setting. The movie is also somewhat long, yet it seems like time has been wasted here and there to focus on secondary action scenes, where the characters act on impulse and instinct, while it could have been focusing on the actual emotions the character MUST have been feeling when they're trapped in a giant dangerous maze that doesn't seem to have a way out.
It is an action film, so it gets away with having bad acting throughout and average CGI. Its biggest faults are, as I said, the choices and timing of storytelling, and, of course, the fact that it has been presented as a mindless action film when it could have easily been more introspective and less blatant.… Full Review »
There are bad movies, terrible movies, awful movies, and unbearable movies, unbearable as in you get up and walk out because it's painful. When Jenny gets drunk and starts to heat a frozen pizza, you know just where this is going, you know exactly how depressing it's going to be, and you also know there's no point in sitting through it.… Full Review »
This was the most boring movie I have ever seen. My entire family was bored, even the ones who read and loved all the books and have seen the other movies were bored- we were all bored. I was constantly waiting for some epic fight scene with Katniss kicking some major butt but it never happened. The boring scenes went on for what seemed like forever. Then the movie ended with the entire audience saying "What?! That's it?!" It was a huge disappointment to say the least.… Full Review »
Unlike the typical "Star is Born" framework, this film starts as the young singer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is already tormented by her fame. It's not a music industry plot at all, but a love drama about her attraction to a young cop (Nate Parker), who was assigned to protect her. Mbatha-Raw (best known as the black beauty in "Belle") takes on a very different role as this Rhiana-type sexy singer and she's completely compelling, not to mention she can sing! Parker has plenty of leading man charm (not to mention that body). The story starts with music biz glamor, but the slowly turns into a romance. Luckily, the actors handle it well, even as it deteriorates into predictable mush.… Full Review »
If its your first sci-fi film and surely its an outstanding film with a great concept and if its your first Christopher Nolan movie then you will call go all crazy about the Nolan making him a guy from another universe!
But lets make the facts right :
1. Steven Spielberg is the best modern-age sci-fi director
2.Music was too loud unlike Zimmer
3. scientific facts were wrong most of the time which was the key element as what he promised
4. For me execution was perfect as the budget goes it should be .
5. same style of filming again and again
Ok. Memento , The Dark Knight and Inception are the only three great movies from Christopher Nolan's team not INTERSTELLAR… Full Review »
