With a plethora of hollywood funny men in this movie, all headed up by Will Ferrell, I'm shocked that this movie really turned out to be this unfunny. I did find a few chuckle worthy moments here and there, but nothing that resembled actual comedy. Some of the scenes in the movie just do not make any sense and end up being painful to watch. A scene where Ferrell is playing poker is a perfect example of such, as the whole time I was watching I was just wondering what was going on and why. It wasn't funny, just loud, rude, and pointless. I think that is the best way to describe the whole movie.
In the end "Semi-Pro" fails to make any sort of good use of it's usually hilarious cast thanks to it's awkwardly written jokes. What's worse is that it's clear that some of these scenes could have been genuinely funny if put in the hands of a writer who could come up with better dialog and comedic timing. It really is just a boring waste of time and you would be better off watching something else. I give it a 4.2/10-Bad.… Full Review »
What makes this movie so enjoyable is that it resembles old-fashioned Liam Neeson action flicks like "Taken", "Unknown", and "The Grey". "Non-Stop" is an interesting thriller that while cliched still engages you as an audience member and keeps you guessing. Liam Neeson once again commands the role but as an alcoholic down on his luck. I really like that this was a different type of action hero for Liam to play. Unlike being a perfect bad-a** from "Taken", "Unknown", etc, he was shaping and molding into a bad-a** even though his character was completely damaged. While some characters are heard more than others, the ones who stick out are the ones that make the movie engaging. Overall, it's a thriller with some thrills even through its cliches. I give it a B+! Plus, I give the movie more of a 7.5 rather than a 7. Just F.W.I!… Full Review »
This colorful and interesting animated adventure reminded me of old school DreamWorks films such as "Shrek 1 & 2" "Madagascar" and "Over the Hedge". While it may not be as great as those classic's, it does however provide an intellectual and education value throughout some dumb and chessy moments. Overall, it's a fun and somewhat education animated film that never truly takes itself completely seriously and stupidly. I give it a B!… Full Review »
I was really looking forward to this action-packed adventure, mainly because of Aaron Paul! Ever since "Breaking Bad" ended, I've been waiting to see each of those actors see what they could do on the big screen. And still, I received a great Aaron Paul performance, but not enough of a good movie. "Need For Speed" is a murky action movie with a lame and cliched story and an often murky screenplay. The acting from pretty much everyone else in the movie didn't even stand a chance in comparison to Aaron Paul and even Michael Keaton. The chemistry from the main cast didn't work. They looked like they had fun playing off each other, but there was no spark between any of them; with the exception of Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots. The chemistry between actually and surprisingly worked. Even though their relationship is cliched, you end up buying it. Overall, "Need For Speed" is a disappointing action-thrill ride that only presents great action and Aaron Paul, but essentially fails at everything else. I give it a C!… Full Review »
