I found this to be a very disappointing sequel. It still manages to provide some laugh out loud hilarious moments. Unfortunately it's nowhere near as funny as it's predecessor. Much of the humor ends up falling very short of the mark. The plot just ends up being filled with familiar twists that we've seen time and time again in the serious spy movies. All in all I don't recommend this for a watch, even if you were a fan of the original. I found myself saying "wow that was stupid" way more than I was saying "wow that was funny". To me that's the sign of a lackluster comedy.… Full Review »
A mostly mediocre film with some incredible performances. The plot itself tugs at heart strings a tad too much but its okay since the ending and acting are downright fantastic. Gyllenhall and Jackman are incredible and frankly its surprising to see the lack of love for them in this awards season. Even when the scene seems trite and overwrought with melodrama these two, neigh, the cast seems to ground it with force and believability unlike any other performance this year. The ending too is handled marvelously, making a perfect balancing act between meaningful and happy go lucky.… Full Review »
I was able to stomach Drive. Maybe I even kind of liked it. There were
some parts of Drive that kind of maybe even kicked a$$, like the
opening scene So, I really wanted to like this film, or at least, at
the bare minimum, make up my mind after I'd watched it, but I just
could not do it. I had to bail out when the ridiculous mother enters
I love that it's set in Bangkok, and all the aura that this could
provide, but besides potential, which is never developed, there is
little else of value. The charters don't treat the country with
respect, and if this is supposed to be some kind of statement, it fails
in all possible intended variations.
All the ridiculously over done, tyring-to-hard scenes shot with weird
lighting when normal lighting would have sufficed idiotic. The
overexposed, deep colours of the hotel are not artistic but stupid.
What the heck are Gossling and his crew doing in Thailand anyway?
So many more complaints than this, but it's all the time I'm willing
spend analyzing this very disappointing film.… Full Review »
