When it doesn't bore you, it provokes you to think, "Boy, is this dumb."

If anything, the second season of this series is worse than the first.

Sort of "Back to the Future" by way of "thirtysomething" -- a derivative, annoying drama with a time-travel conceit. [27 Sept 2002, p.C08]

Carell doesn't capture the weird charm, the subtlety and the vulnerability -- and the show doesn't have any of those...Frankly, it's sometimes so painful to watch you can just imagine remotes clicking all across the country. [24 Mar 2005]

"Dinotopia" is all style and little substance. The effects are good -- especially for TV -- but far too little attention was paid to developing scripts and characters. [27 Nov 2002]

Roadies is so convinced it's clever that it feels like it's talking down to us. It feels forced.

The most disturbing thing about Wicked City is that it's not unusual. It's not original. It's not particularly interesting. It's just the latest series driven by violence against women.

It's all rather dull. Which might be remedied. Maybe. [4 Oct 2003, p.E08]

It's all predictable, syrupy and--at times--just downright stupid. Among the worst moments is the appearance of Parton herself.

There's nothing even slightly new or original about Kevin Can Wait. It's comedy-by-the-numbers aimed at a broad, undiscerning audience.

'Rock' is little more than one big sophomoric sex joke. ... All of this is doubly disappointing because it's such a waste of talent. [9 Jan 1996]

A dark, outrageously cynical, cold take on the lives of thoroughly unpleasant people living in present-day Manhattan...What's supposed to be entertainment is wearisome, whiny and annoying. [6 June 1998, p.E07]

Yes, it's a soap opera. But if this is "character driven," well, it's worth noting that none of the characters (or the situations) seem the least bit believable.

Crude comedy can be funny, but this is lots of crude and almost nothing in the way of comedy. Repeatedly dropping f-bombs doesn't make Vice Principals anything but lame. Neal and Lee are childish idiots, sure, but they're not amusing.

This series recycles just about every TV medical drama cliché you can imagine. It's not just that it's predictable, but it's utterly unbelievable. And all attempts to make it quirky and delightful just make it lame and dumb.
