Part puzzle game, part platformer, and always guaranteed to raise a smile... it's a real gem. Albeit one that's covered in gloop.

It takes some elements from Peggle and adds a ton of new elements into the mix, turning it into a casual orgy of color and sweet highscore lust.

While not a direct Metroid knockoff, this challenging and physics based App bears a striking resemblance to Nintendo's classic sci-fi adventures. Both gorgeous and incredibly thrilling, it's without question one of the App Store's best.
100Slide to Play
A beautiful, challenging, and epic ball-rolling game. This iPhone genre will never be the same.
90AppSmile
Featuring terrific level design, beautiful 3D environments, and tight controls, Gears may be a departure for the RPG-minded developers, but it manages to impress nonetheless.
80Gamezebo
A pretty addictive puzzle/platformer title that contains some delightfully fast-paced gameplay and is honestly pretty addictive. The tilt controls leave a bit to be desired, and there are occasional issues with in-game objects getting in the way of the camera, but overall this is a great game.
80TouchGen
Two working controls methods, excellent graphics and audio along with Game Center integration for leaderboards equal a great quality release. Now if I can only find a Buddhist monk to try the game.

It has gotten me hooked and playing for hours at a time-a feat that not many games can boast of-and quite honestly, I think this game is the best "bird" game out of the Big Three.
90AppSmile
Replay value is good, as the Endless mode should keep you busy long after you complete the Story mode.
90Gamezebo
Deeply addictive, wonderfully presented and filled with non-violent goodness, it's almost a crime to not get Air Penguin. I'd say more but the only thing that is crossing my mind in regards to my opinion of the game is the word 'Perfect'.
80148Apps
Air Penguin is the perfect example of a quality casual game. It's simple yet gives you reason to keep playing. Plus it's fun to drop into for five minutes at a time or for much longer too.
80AppSpy
Air Penguin lacks the same vital spark of other recent bird-themed titles, but bouncing your way through each of the game's challenges still makes for a fun challenge that scales to your skill level.
80Pocket Gamer UK
Air Penguin is a charming arcade game with solid controls and plenty of replay value.
75Destructoid
If you like tilt controls, it's a fantastic little game that you can't go wrong with. If you don't, then stay the hell away from it.

Air Penguin isn't quite at the level of the best casual games on the App Store, but it's a fun, polished game with pick-up-and-play appeal.

If you enjoyed Doodle Jump and Mega Jump, and miss playing Pac-Man, PAC'N-JUMP will be on your top played list in no time. It's a perfect game to pick up and play when you have a few moments to burn.
100Modojo
Namco Bandai took everything we love about Doodle Jump and improved the experience with some old school flavor. The result is an App that represents the best thing to happen to Pac-Man since Championship Edition on Xbox 360.
80148Apps
While Pac'n-Jump is hardly the most original game on the App Store, it certainly adapts from its inspirations well and offers plenty of fan service along the way. Fans of the endless ascension platformer genre could do far worse.
80GamePro
While blatant, Pac'N-Jump is actually one of the better Doodle Jump clones out there, and for its 99-cent price, it's well worth a go if you have any fondness for the little yellow dude.
80Pocket Gamer UK
While it won't win any awards for innovation, Pac'N Jump is a faithful replication of the Doodle Jump formula with an added scoop of nostalgia.
75Slide to Play
Pac'n-Jump doesn't bring many new ideas to the endless jumping genre, but that doesn't stop it from bringing the charm.
70Gamezebo
PAC'N-JUMP may be just another Doodle Jump clone, but it's a good Doodle Jump clone. With a little bit of variety and some fun retro flavor, PAC'N-JUMP offers a terrific alternative to The Doodler that any Pac-Maniac should enjoy.

One of my favorite games this year -- even after completing all 100 of the levels (with a 5th world with a brand new gameplay mechanic coming soon), I still found myself going back to try and improve my scores.
90AppSmile
A polished time-based challenge with engaging gameplay mechanics and simple path-finding controls, Burn It All is as compelling as any of the app store chart toppers we've come across.
90Destructoid
Burn it All is a true gem of a game that shows just how you can mix creativity across many levels of mobile game design. Given how hard it can be to complete every level as fast as the game wants you to, prepare yourself to keep playing this on and off for quite some hours.
70Gamezebo
The main problem with Burn It All ends up being its repetitive gameplay. While having 100 levels is certainly nothing to sneeze at, the fact that you're presented with virtually the same problems and pitfalls all the way through (i.e. burn things in the right order, don't get extinguished) gets a little stale after a while.

In the end, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 is a very impressive game on the iPad that contains some of the best graphics to grace this smart device with almost flawless gameplay. So what are you waiting for, pick up your iPad, choose your virtual golfer and starting hitting those balls as you improve your skills and become the best possible virtual golfer you can be. With tons of replay value, this is gaming at its best on the iPad!
81Game Chronicles
With eight courses, multiple modes for solo and multiplayer, and the addicting Facebook challenges, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12 HD has plenty to offer. There are a few minor issues but those can easily be addressed in a patch or the inevitable sequel coming next year. For now, it doesn't get any better than this when it comes to iPad golf.
80Modojo
All this praise aside, the game's commentary comes up way short.
80TouchArcade
A big improvement over the original iOS version, but it doesn't feel a whole lot different gameplay-wise. The swipe mechanic for swinging works beautifully, just as it did before.
80TouchGen
Certainly a welcome return, but it doesn't offer as nearly as much as I had hoped. Tiger Challenge and the Facebook integration are strong additions, and the tight controls, particularly on the iPad version are second to none. But, somehow I expected more from EA -- more content, more courses, more tightly integrated commentary, and much more in the visuals department (and that's coming from someone who cherishes gameplay).

Despite changing little other than the graphics quality and swapping out some golfers and courses for new ones, Tiger remains the iOS champ and is worth picking up if you're a diehard golfer.
80AppGamer
My only real gripe about the game. You control the swing of the club by moving your finger first down and then quickly up the screen. You can add fade and draw to the shot by moving slightly to the left or right swiping upwards, which I found myself doing far too often. Maybe it's just me and my crappy fingers, or perhaps it was due to the screen size. I don't know, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
80AppSpy
Aside from a few minor quibbles mostly surrounding its integration with Facebook, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12 is a solid return for the series on the App Store and a great pickup for fans of golfing titles.
80GamePro
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 combines beautiful graphics with excellent controls to bring all the excitement and frustration of golf to your iDevice.
80IGN
The tighter swipe controls and new power shots are a big plus. The Facebook-linked minigame is also a cool add. The commentary is pretty rough, though, and the rest of Tiger might feel a little familiar to loyal fans.
80Modojo

100Slide to Play
Mos Speedrun is a well-made platformer that encourages you to play the game in a way you probably wouldn't otherwise.
90GamePro
Mos Speedrun plays a lot like the recently-released League of Evil, and by that I mean that it does platforming right on a device where few have succeeded. Everything from the beat-heavy chiptune soundtrack to the high-resolution "8-bit" graphics reek of polish, and the game itself controls beautifully.
80AppSpy
It's great to see the magic of platformers digging its claws in to modern gamers and while Mos Speedrun can't compete with the classics it slots in well with the currently dominating genre of skill based platformers.
80Gamer Limit
Mos Speedrun doesn't really do anything above and beyond the call of duty, but retro fans craving a challenge are sure to find yet another hidden gem in this title. While it isn't as good as, say, League of Evil, it's a pretty solid companion game for any retronauts out there.
80Pocket Gamer UK
Mos Speedrun is a fun old skool platformer with tight controls and some neat tricks that help make it stand out from the crowd.
80TouchGen
It doesn't exactly break any new ground, but it takes the best of the old and repackages it for a new generation.
70AppSmile
You'll need to don your exploratory cap, lace up your running shoes, and have darn-near-perfect anticipation and timing if you want to conquer this game.
70Gamezebo
Sadly, however, I found the controls somewhat lackluster compared to everything else in the package.
70VideoGamer
It's a tidy little package, all in all - probably the closest thing the App Store has to Super Meat Boy, which is high praise indeed.
60Modojo
A game like this requires user-friendly controls, and Mos Speedrun's default scheme fails to make the grade.
58The Onion (A.V. Club)
There's a point at which "retro stylings" cross over into plain old ugliness, and Mos Speedrun straddles that line.

Yeah, multiplayer would've been nice and who wouldn't want more quizzes (although updates to the game could bring those), but for $5 on the iPad or $3 on the iPhone, you're getting a trivia game that sucks you in with witty dialogue and clever questions.

Simply put, You Don't Know Jack is the kind of experience that not only stretches the mind with challenge, but inversely massages it with humor to ease the blow of defeat.
80AppSafari
If you like your trivia with a healthy side of snark and a touch of risque, age hasn't mellowed You Don't Know Jack one bit, and it emerges onto the app scene as a very smart and sharp challenge for grown-ups.
80AppSpy
If you've had the chance to play YOU DON'T KNOW JACK games before you'll know what you're in for here; if you've not had the pleasure, strap yourself in for some high energy quiz-show fun.
80Gamezebo
If you like your trivia funny, challenging, and a little risque©, there's simply no better choice on the App Store. Now let's just hope they can keep churning out new episodes as quickly as I can keep playing them.

You Don't Know Jack is the funniest trivia game on the App Store, if you're able to turn on the audio.
60Modojo
The real kicker, though, is the lack of wireless multiplayer. You Don't Know Jack, at least for now, is a solo affair, while the recently released console versions support up to four players simultaneously.

Death Rally is an iOS remake of the 1996 top-down racing PC game.

DEATH RALLY ain't messin' you around… A one-time purchase for your multiple devices! Universally designed for iPHONE™, iPAD™, also with gorgeous OPTIMIZED FEATURES for IPAD2™. This is no Sunday Drive. This is DEATH RALLY. The classic top down racer is back, stronger and more vicious than ever. Make a run for the finish line with a trail of broken glass and spent brass behind you... along with the flaming wreckage of any fool dumb enough to get in your way. Arguably, the best looking racing game for the iPhone and iPad. Race against incredible boss drivers like DUKE NUKEM. The gameplay is addictive, intense, explosive fun, with racing + weapons = awesome! Lock and load and enter the Death Rally, humiliate and destroy your opponents or sabotage the race. You choose how you win, NO TRICK IS TOO DIRTY!

Death Rally is a remake of a 1996 game, improved in every conceivable way; a great return for one of the best Remedy games.
80AppGamer
A great single player experience, just as it was in the 90's on PC, but it feels that more content could be added to beef the game up. For top down racer fans though, particularly those who enjoyed Reckless Racing, Death Rally is another great addition to the genre and the weapons add a new dimension to the racing.
80AppSmile
Featuring gorgeous graphics with terrific lighting effects and combat-focused gameplay, Death Rally manages to excite and delight even after you've exhausted its limited content.
80AppSpy
Death Rally isn't necessarily top-down mayhem racing at its best, but working your way to the next vehicle, weapon and upgrade along while blowing up opponents has an appeal all of its own.
80Destructoid
As it stands, you'll easily get around 5 hours or more out of the game by simply upgrading everything and having fun while you do it. And even when you 'complete' it, Death Rally doesn't make you feel like you are done playing it.
80GamePro
If you're looking for an iOS game with triple-A production values and you've already played both Infinity Blade and Rage, Death Rally is a good bet.
80Gamezebo
Driving feels good, combat is crazy fun and the upgrade system is borderline addictive. It's true I wish there were more tracks, but hopefully that's a problem that will be remedied soon. But as it stands it's one of the best racing games we've seen on the App Store yet.
80Modojo
Made one hell of a debut, and the promise of free content will transform this already impressive shooter into one of the iPhone and iPad's premier Apps. Lock and load, hit the track and come out firing.
80TouchArcade
For an initial release though, Death Rally still contains a good amount of content, and it's a ton of fun to play through.
80TouchGen
Death Rally is still a fantastic game. The only major problem I had that I already knew about was the lack of multiplayer. Apart from that, the game is solid.
75IGN
I didn't have too much trouble with the simplistic controls, but I do wish there were options for other players. However, in the end, Death Rally left me smiling.
75Slide to Play
What Death Rally lacks in content and features, it makes up for with customization and intensely fun gameplay.
70Gamereactor Denmark
A great remake of the 1996 classic. Crisp graphics, great controls (after you get used to it). And how can you not like a game where you can race against Duke Nukem? Unfortunately the game is extremely short, and wont last more than a few hours.
70Pocket Gamer UK
Death Rally provides plenty of cool weapons and rides, yet the absence of multiplayer and tighter track designs prevent it from being truly killer.
60Gamekult
Death Rally comes back to life on iPhone and it's still an easygoing nervous arcade game. Actually, it's even better thanks to some stunning visuals. It's a shame though that some control issues, the lack of multiplayer mode and its dull Career mode keep Death Rally from being as memorable as it could be.

Where's Forget-Me-Not? It's a great game and it has a metacritic score of 90. It doesn't make sense that it wouldn't make this list.

    True that, Forget-Me-Not rules.

Actually Snuggle Truck is #2 on Metacritic right now but this feature article came out before Snuggle Truck hit the charts.
