The chillwave outfit Washed Out—you've likely heard their theme song for the IFC series Portlandia, as well as their terrific 2011 debut Within and Without70—is actually just one person: musician Ernest Greene. This sophomore set again arrives via Sub Pop, and reviews have been fairly positive, even if the new songs do come off a bit ... well, washed out.

  • After M.I.A. threatened to leak her delayed album Matangi herself, her label, Interscope, finally agreed to release it; expect the LP to arrive on November 5th.
  • The next Melvins album, Tres Cabrones (out 11/5), will feature the band's original 1983 lineup. - CoS
  • The Avett Brothers return with the Rick Rubin-produced Magpie and the Dandelion on October 15th.
  • The September 6 release From Beer To Eternity will be the final Ministry album, though frontman Al Jourgensen is at work on new projects with Trent Reznor and Lil Wayne. - Billboard
  • Midlake returns with Antiphon on November 5. It'll be their first album without singer Tim Smith; guitarist Eric Pulido will now handle vocals.
  • Danny Brown's next album, Old, has been pushed back to an unspecified date in October.

  • Merge has November tour dates for Destroyer's Dan Bejar, who will be performing solo.
