Green Lantern Read Reviews
In theaters Friday

Opening Friday, Green Lantern is the lone DC Comics movie in a Marvel-filled season, and is the third comic-book adaptation already this summer (following Thor and X-Men: First Class). The film stars Ryan Reynolds (who already played comic-book hero Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as test pilot Hal Jordan, who gets wrapped up with an intergalactic group of peacekeepers known as the Green Lantern Corps. He takes advice from Tomar-Re (Geoffrey Rush), looks up to Sinestro (Mark Strong), battles Dr. Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard), and kisses fellow pilot Carol Ferris (Blake Lively). The film was directed by Casino Royale’s Martin Campbell.

Falling Skies
Series premiere Sunday at 9p on TNT

Hot on the heels of the alien panic of Super 8 comes a new TNT series about what happens to a group of survivors after an alien invasion. Debuting Sunday, Falling Skies was created by Robert Rodat (screenwriter of Saving Private Ryan) and Steven Spielberg and stars Noah Wyle (E.R.), Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation), Will Patton (Armageddon), and Dale Dye (Platoon) as a part of the human resistance. If that’s not bad enough, Wyle’s history professor character Tom Mason is also trying to find his missing son.

It's All True by Junior Boys Read Reviews
New album in stores Tuesday

The Canadian electronic duo of Jeremy Greenspan and Johnny Dark, aka Junior Boys, have returned with their fourth full-length album. It’s All True comes out Tuesday and follows the band’s criminally underrated 2009 album Begone Dull Care. The nine-track album contains the previously leaked “ep” and the excellent album closer “Banana Ripple.” The romantically breathy electronic tunes found on It’s All True began their inception in Shanghai and were eventually completed in Berlin and Hamilton, Ontario. The group is currently on a world tour, with their next stop at NYC’s Webster Hall.

Now, he’s stepping in front of the cameras in the bizarre new Comedy Central series Jon Benjamin Has a Van. The live-action “news” series, debuting Tuesday and airing again on Wednesday (its regular time slot), is comprised of sketches and guest appearances by the likes of Chris Parnell (30 Rock), David Cross (Mr. Show), and Matt Walsh.

Duke Nukem Forever 360 Reviews PC Reviews PS3 Reviews
New game in stores Tuesday

After several previous attempts to put out a next-gen Duke Nukem comes Tuesday’s multi-platform release of Duke Nukem Forever, the long-awaited (the title was initially announced in 1997) first-person shooter. But Duke Nukem Forever has an uphill battle to distinguish itself in a marketplace full of polished FPS titles. The trailer suggests that the game will attempt to stand out from the crowd by leaning heavily on misogynistic juvenile humor, but so far, the critics aren't laughing; early reviews suggest a major disappointment.

Green lantern trailer looked terrible. Fingers crossed for Falling Skies. Ain't gonna look at DNF in order to preserve my good DN3 memories

  • Randy

I played the demo for Duke Nukem. I was very unimpressed. It's just another run-of-the-mill shooter that doesn't stand up with its contemporaries. What a disappointment.

  • Alex

Not at all excited about Green Lantern, but I do want to see Falling Skies.

  • JD

I'll probably end up seeing Green Lantern, but kinda meh about it. Falling Skies, on the other hand, looks great. I'm SO glad Super 8 opened above expectations, absolutely loved it.

  • Kadeem

I feel bad for Duke Nukem, but still the reviews aren't coming in until the game will be released Tuesday.
