MPAA RATING: R for language and some sexual content/nudity

Starring Joshua Jackson, Leonor Varela, Timm Sharp, Ruthanna Hopper, and Dennis Hopper

Americano is a cross-cultural love story set against the backdrop of Spain’s centuries-old Fiesta de San Fermin, better known as The Running of the Bulls at Pamplona. Chris McKinley (Jackson), a recent college graduate backpacking through Europe, savors his last three days of freedom before boarding the career fast track back in the States. As the minutes and seconds until his departure tick away, Chris struggles with an age-old question - should he follow the beaten path, or risk it all on the road less traveled? LA Weekly Mark Olsen
Watching Americano is like hearing a long story about someone else's holiday, and while it seems everyone had a nice time, it's too bad they didn't shoot a better film while they were there.

Pete M. gave it an8:
This is a well acted film with limited plot, but a lot of powerful character drama. It’s the sort of feature where characters wander around talking for scene after scene. It’s a tad meandering, but there’s enough raw emotional material to make it a satisfying film.

Sheila E. gave it a4:
To me, this movie seemed like a home movie of the main characters going from place to place and doing stuff. The plot was nonexistent. There were tiny flashes of character development, but the opportunities were missed. Although Josh Jackson is one of my favorite actors, the movie couldn't make me care whether he went back to the States or not. I was really disappointed.

Aj P. gave it a9:
Being a 30-thirty-something year old guy searching for meaning in life, this movie hit a particular chord within me. It was well-written, well-directed, and unlike most of movies I see these days, I didn't what to expect next. Josh Jackson did an admirable job, but the girl (Adella) steals the show. "Do what scares you", give it a try.
