New Times (L.A.) Luke Y. Thompson

It's a heartfelt and powerful examination of faith that no serious student or enthusiast of theology or philosophy should miss.

Gets off to a pretty intriguing start before degenerating into a series of routine action sequences.

This cinematic stiff should have stayed buried.

Village Voice Michael Atkinson

Indiana Jones has never been so missed, but instead this shaggy God story hones in on the faith dilemmas of Banderas and a sputtering Derek Jacobi, so Sunday-hammy you want to rivet him with cloves.

New York Post Lou Lumenick

Antonio Banderas is unintentionally hilarious as Father Matt Gutierrez, a sort of Jesuit James Bond.

Just about every race and creed come off badly in this small-scale thriller.

Mr. Showbiz Kevin Maynard

This talky, self-important flick is a bore of biblical proportions.

Variety Scott Foundas

Has shown its true colors as less a serious religious-themed film than a moth-eaten tapestry of foreign intrigue and badly miscast international stars.

calimero gave it a4:
Bad. What can u expect of an Antonio Banderas´movie?

Archille O. gave it a 9:
An open mind, some religous knowledge, and a 2-hour suspension of disbelief are required to enjoy this emotional experience. It brings a new approach to the question "Is God dead?"

Andy O. gave it a 9:
I had reservations about seeing this movie thinking it would just rip Chrisitanity. However, I was very surprised at how well done it was. It acurately portrayed the doubts we all have about our faith to varying degrees, Banderas did an excellent job in his struggle to hold on to his faith and still looking for the truth. Interesting insight by the archeoligist/priest on the antichrist take of the bones.
