USA Today Mike Clark
For a big-screen disposable, Doom has a few jolts, a few good laughs and an attractive female lead to whom you want to say, "What's a nice girl like you doing on a Mars like this?"

It's really not all that bad. Ultra-derivative bigscreen transplant of one of the most successful (and controversial) games ever made plays like a mutant cross between a biotech thriller and a zombie movie, with all the alien autopsies, blood-gushing protuberances and meaningless scientific jargon that come with the territory.
Read Full Review >Entertainment Weekly Marc Bernardin
By hewing close to James Cameron's "Aliens" playbook, Doom manages to escape the game-to-movie curse that afflicted "Resident Evil," "House of the Dead," and, well, every other movie based on a game.
Read Full Review >Seattle Post-Intelligencer Sean Axmaker
Doom may be by the numbers, with a roll call of colorful types systematically exterminated while The Rock entertains with cartoonish expressions and reactions (the closest the film comes to personality).
Read Full Review >The Hollywood Reporter Richard James Havis
Plot, character development and dialogue are so sparse that the screenwriters are fortunate they're not paid by the word. But this basic approach doesn't render it ineffectual. There's so little to go wrong that those who like their entertainment mindless and violent will find little fault.

Doom, the film, aspires to be more than just a gory shoot em' up--though it'd still be a stretch to call it a thinking man's action movie.
Read Full Review >Chicago Reader Staff (Not credited)
The Rock's ungainly performance is somewhat alleviated by Karl Urban as a crew member and Rosamund Pike as his twin sister.

Dreary-looking and painfully slow, but it's not terrible.

If he (The Rock) can keep those wandering eyebrows in check, his future as an action hero appears unlimited--that is, provided he can resist taking roles in movies like this one.
Read Full Review >Dallas Observer Luke Y. Thompson
The movie ultimately cops out by culminating in a fistfight between two humans, with nary a cyborg missile-throwing devil in sight.
Read Full Review >Village Voice Drew Tillman
As dumb as they come, the entertaining Doom might warrant a place in cinema history as the first movie in which someone rips off their own ear.
Read Full Review >Portland Oregonian M. E. Russell
Beyond a couple of cool guns and one long, gory, clever first-person shot, Doom is something the video games have never been: dull.
Read Full Review >Empire Kim Newman
Not quite as dreadful as Resident Evil: Apocalypse, but that's hardly a major achievement.
Read Full Review >Film Threat Pete Vonder Haar
Doesn’t break any new ground – it actually steals from half a dozen other sci-fi movies – but it’ll make enough at the box office to justify further game flicks.
Read Full Review >TV Guide Maitland McDonagh
Like Doom itself, the movie is rich in backstory, but sparse in actual story.
Read Full Review >New York Post Lou Lumenick
Basically a deadly dull rehash of "Resident Evil," which in turn was a third-generation clone of "Aliens."
Read Full Review >Charlotte Observer Lawrence Toppman
We don't need a discussion of plot in a review of a movie made from a video game, do we? Nor do we care whether the characters are complicated (no), the acting is sophisticated (no), the direction is competent (no) or the camerawork is clever (no).

The latest failed Hollywood attempt to make a movie from a video game.
Read Full Review >LA Weekly Chuck Wilson
Baffling too is The Rock's choice to follow up his acclaimed performance in "Be Cool" with a role that requires him to do little more than widen his eyes and grunt lines.
Read Full Review >Austin Chronicle Marc Savlov
Go for the gore (there's lots of it), but stay for the immortal line: "Now let's go find the body this arm belongs to."

A loud, standard-issue sci-fi action film that has a confusing mission.

Shows less human dimension than the new Wallace and Gromit movie.

Watching Doom is like visiting Vegas and never leaving your hotel room.
Read Full Review >New York Daily News Elizabeth Weitzman
Even The Rock, who can usually be counted on to enliven any scenario, seems bored by the laughably feeble script.
Read Full Review >San Francisco Chronicle Peter Hartlaub
Like most movies based on games, this film appears to have been quite literally doomed from the start.
Read Full Review >Philadelphia Inquirer David Hiltbrand
Doom is, to its detriment, a remarkably faithful re-creation of the massively popular video game. In other words, it's a dark, violent, nerve-wracking, trigger-giddy waste of time.
Read Full Review >The New York Times Janet Maslin
This claustrophobic mess of a movie offers only carnage.

Keenan S gave it a7:
I didn't hate this film, but I don't blame anyone who does. This film was only really likable because it was so bad it was funny and had a few decent action scenes to boot. I played the game, and doesn't capture the spirit of it, but it's a fun bad film to watch.
Does it matter gave it a10:
It was loosely based on the game, had some gore, some action, some good (and bad) acting, and a first-person scene! In other words :it's the best game adaption since... EVER!!!
Max S gave it a10:
Gosh this sucked! NOT!! I loved this movie, yeah it's a bit cliched but that doesn't bother me (as can be seen from my rating) The plot is a bit non-existant, but when compared with the plots from other game based movies (Resident Evil, Hitman, Max Payne, and Alone in the Dark mostly) This has the bigget plot of them all.
Mt Dumdum gave it an8:
Doesn't break any new grounds, but it breaks enough old ones to keep us coming back for more!
alien lover gave it a10:
Man! If you want to see a alien movie, watch this one. Don't waste time with AVP or AVP:R they both blow! This movie worked as an action/thriller/horror/monster/alien movie!! Damn it was even better than RE.
Mr. Mysterious gave it a10:
Not based off the game, but thats ok. If there was only one space marine wiping out millions of creatures it woldn't be much fun (more like "WTF") but when you get a team it's less preposterous. and I don't care if they are aliens instead of hell creatures, they're hellish enough to work!
Alex B. gave it a4:
You have DOOM. The game which always pulled my attation with pumping action and lots of cool enemy's. This is doom, a laugheble movie that ruins the BFG (blue gue ffs) and is based only on Doom 3, what's the wurst Doom out on the marked.
