Entertainment Weekly Lisa Schwarzbaum
An unexpectedly alert teen-scream disaster chiller.
Read Full Review >Los Angeles Times Kevin Thomas
A terrific theatrical feature debut for television veterans Glen Morgan and James Wong.
Read Full Review >San Francisco Chronicle Mick LaSalle
Playful and energized enough to keep an audience guessing.
Read Full Review >Chicago Sun-Times Roger Ebert
Will no doubt be a hit and inspire the obligatory sequels.
Read Full Review >Seattle Post-Intelligencer Sean Axmaker
So grim and humorless that the first half almost sinks into silliness.
Read Full Review >Baltimore Sun Chris Kaltenbach
Fitfully thrilling.
USA Today Susan Wloszczyna
Proudly stupid, silly and gory.
Variety Joe Leydon
Generates a respectable amount of suspense and takes a few unexpected turns while covering familiar territory.
Read Full Review >New York Post Lou Lumenick
OK premise quickly deteriorates into a silly, badly acted slasher movie -- minus the slasher.
Chicago Reader Lisa Alspector
Disturbing--if less sophisticated than the best SF (science fiction)-horror TV.

It's hard to root against Death when the people involved are never brought to life in the first place.
Read Full Review >Austin Chronicle Marjorie Baumgarten
Flawed but often entertaining teen horror flick.
Read Full Review >TV Guide Maitland McDonagh
Serviceable enough, if you come to it with sufficiently modest expectations.
Read Full Review >Chicago Tribune Barbara Shulgasser
Meets the low standards of a mediocre TV movie.
Philadelphia Inquirer Desmond Ryan
As full of terrible acting as it is devoid of suspense.
LA Weekly Ernest Hardy
Fails because it takes itself both too seriously and not seriously enough.

You'll laugh, but you'll hate yourself by the time you're out of the theater.

You'll definitely feel cheated -- especially when you keep on finding yourself thinking how Mulder and Scully would have handled it all.

Stoops well below substituting style for substance.
Washington Post Rita Kempley
Your own final destination just might be the box office, to demand your money back.

Final destination? Video store bins.
The New York Times Stephen Holden
Even by the crude standards of teenage horror, Final Destination is dramatically flat.

Crude and witless.
TNT RoughCut Tom Cappello
Inane, irresponsible, immature, poorly written.

Jesus M gave it a9:
This movie was a pleasant surprise the first time it came out. I thought it was going to be another cheesy teen thriller. But it actually had an original plot and the actors held their own. Most ended up having a good movie career and are still around. It's definitely on my permanent collection. I highly recommend it for cult thriller aficionados.
Venah C gave it an8:
This movie was great despite some minor flaws. Critics did not enjoy the movie so much because everyone fears death and even the idea of not controlling your life makes people go mad (Don't believe me? Read what the critics said and you'll get what I mean "Stupid. Garbage. Nonsense").
Jay H gave it a6:
I thought it was pretty good, not sure why the critics hated it so much. It was suspenseful, interesting, decently acted. Great special effects. Oddly fascinating.
Eddie D. gave it a6:
Final Destination had a great plotline but lots of flaws, and terrible, TERRIBLE acting.
Amurabi M. gave it a4:
A clear thing about "Final Destination" is that never tries to be taken itself seriously. the filmmakers know that this is teenage entertainment. The kind of entertainment that never appeals to our brains or our logic. This film is just a case of teenage flick mixed with a kind of horror and a lot of unvoluntary humour. "Final Destination" is just what it is: a waste of time with the shape of entertainment and with that purpose, the film works well.
Wesley E. gave it a9:
What seems like another crappy Scream rip-off actually comes across as a very good thriller. It's got plenty of gore, and while the script itself is average, the in-your-face irony is quite funny and the death scenes are complicated, bloody, inventive and very, very impressive.
Michael gave it a10:
Great movie. Very different from other horror movies. One of my favorites.
