Summary

RATING: PG-13 for some drug content, sexual references and crude humor

Starring Mila Kunis, Ben Gourley, Jon Heder, and Rutger Hauer

Rick Robinson is a lowly intern at a prestigious Miami law firm who dreams of becoming a partner one day. Eager to impress, he agrees to help the firm's top lawyer, Maxwell McAllister, with a favor he really cannot afford. Just five days before the bar exam, Rick finds himself in charge of moving McAllister's dearest possession of all across the country: his seductive yet untouchable niece, Michelle. In a less-than-stellar moving van, the mismatched pair begins the cross-country journey. Soon after the journey begins, they meet Orlick Prescott Hope, a free-spirited hitchhiker. They also encounter numerous obstacles and unforgettable characters along the way, slowing down their journey much to Rick's dismay. However, through this unique experience, Rick begins to see that there's more to life than becoming a successful lawyer. (First Independent Pictures)

Variety Peter Debruge

Ben Gourley packs this excursion with enough contrived quirkiness and latent angst to win over the college crowd, but adds nothing particularly insightful about his generation.

Los Angeles Times Robert Abele

There are enough reasons to avoid this oh-so-wacky comedy as it meanders from piney Georgia to Port Arthur, Texas, to Monument Valley, Utah, and they include Gourley's sense of direction.

LA Weekly Tim Grierson

Moving McAllister is a perfect storm of low-budget indie conventionality: a witless road comedy suffused with tons of phony Americana and forced romance featuring sheltered young white people whose minuscule worries about jobs and relationships are as inconsequential as the film’s negligible worldview.

What Our Users Said

The average user rating for this movie is 6.0 (out of 10) based on 9 User Votes

Caro D gave it an8:
I think is a great movie. I recommend it.

Irwin F gave it a5:
In the right hands, and with a decent script doctor on board this could have been alright but instead it trudged through the motions with people forced together on a road trip. The wild girl and uptight nerd who eventually learn to like each other been done before and better. And the ending is pure cheese.

Jay H. gave it a3:
Predictable comedy and certainly nothing special. The performers are okay, no one stands out. Jon Heder is completely wasted. The lack of originality makes this one a loser.

BILLY AGE 8 gave it a7:
Critics were too harsh on this movie. I found the humor in the movie to be great, and actually funny. Unlike many of the movies that have come out this year. The story may not have been something entirely new, and the actors weren't the best, but they pulled it off with great success in my opinion.

Yarrow P. gave it a4:
not as bad as the critics say, but Gourley needs a) some serious acting coaching and b) some serious script writing help. everything else was quite good.

John T. gave it a9:
Great fun.
