MPAA RATING: R for strong horror violence throughout and some nudity

Starring Milla Jovovich, Oded Fehr, Ali Larter, Ashanti, Iain Glen, Mike Epps, and Spencer Locke

Resident Evil: Extinction is based on the wildly popular video game series and picks up where the last film left off. Alice, now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Olivera and L.J., along with new survivors Claire, K-Mart, and Nurse Betty. They set out to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead--and they're out for justice as well. Since being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, Alice has been subjected to biogenetic experimentation, which has added genetically altered abilities such as superhuman strength, senses, and dexterity to her repertoire. These skills and more will be needed if anyone is to remain alive. (Sony Pictures)

LA Weekly Jim Ridley
This is wall-to-wall mayhem that dashes from one stylish, splattery, nonsensical set-piece to the next, while the star attacks her silly role with the carnivorous brio of an ocelot clawing a side of ham.

TV Guide Maitland McDonagh
Equal parts "Mad Max" and "Day of the Dead," this third and supposedly final entry in the Resident Evil franchise is no less derivative than its predecessors but moves along at a brisk clip.

Variety Joe Leydon
Unfortunately, the new pic never really achieves maximum velocity as a full-throttle action-adventure opus, despite game efforts by returning star Milla Jovovich, still a lithe and lethal dynamo when it comes to butt-kicking, zombie-slicing derring-do.

Film Threat Pete Vonder Haar
While I could probably spend an entire weekend watching Milla twirl her kukris, it's obvious from the rather lazy pacing that Anderson is growing increasingly self-indulgent with his creation.

The Hollywood Reporter Frank Scheck
The actress, wielding a pair of swords like a chef from Benihana, remains a striking action heroine, though she's more convincing visually -- those taut thighs are weapons unto themselves -- than vocally.

Empire Helen O'Hara
Better than the silly second instalment and boasting an effectively creepy empty world setting, it’s nevertheless scuppered by a lack of coherence.

Austin Chronicle Marc Savlov
Almost all of it has to do with watching the occasionally nude Jovovich look absolutely smashing in duster and sidearms, but sometimes, let's face it, that's not enough.

New York Daily News Jack Mathews
If it weren't for retro-gartered Milla Jovovich, I don't know why anyone would want to survive the virus that is turning humans into zombies and destroying the Earth in Resident Evil: Extinction.

Shoot ’em up, run ’em over, blast ’em with flame-throwers, who cares? These creatures are only there to go splat.

Lawrence T gave it a5:
I will give this film a negative to average review. It is just another action movie. It is not really a horror film. Maybe the next film will gather maybe a positive review for once.

Stephen C. gave it a9:
An excelent zombie movie that presents what every zombie movie needs.

S. D. gave it a4:
Definatly the worst Resident Evil. the first, was god. the second: ok but, this... *börk*.

Charles J gave it a5:
Not bad...but not great...Out of the three RE movies, this one stands at its mediocrity.

John G. gave it a0:
This film is awful. There are so many things that are bad about this film. The zombies look ridiculous, The plot is awful, it has almost no relevance to the actual games WHATSOEVER. I watched it days ago and I still can't believe how bad it is. Some of the concepts are just stupid, like a virus turning large areas (like the WHOLE UNITED STATES) into a desert, or zombie that can barely walk in one scene, but are climbing replica Eiffel towers in the next. Oh yeah, and Alice's Matrix powers (do you remember Alice from the games? I sure don't). Don't forget the scene where they are shooting at 10,000 birds with handguns. It could be nitpicking, but the film deserves it. Worst one in the trilogy, The makers should be whipped for making this piece of ####, Nuff said, SEE YA.

Jon H. gave it a9:
Not a GOOD movie but a FUN movie, good, old-fashion, shoot-em-up.

Chris S. gave it a1:
This is, by FAR, the worst of the series. A crappy beginning, a stupid zombie crow scene, and a terrible fight with "aggressive" Zombies in the ruins of Las vegas are the highlights of this film. The scene where they're trying to "domesticate" the zombie in the interrogation-style room was so terrible, I actually either fast-forward through it, or switch the TV input and watch something else for 5 minutes. And that ending...WTF? I'm coming for you guys...with 500 clones of me...you'll recognize me though, I'll be wearing my Queen of the Clones crown! Topped off by how stupid the zombies look and how the T-Virus can magically turn the entire planet into a barren wasteland. I loved the first RE, I loved the second RE even more. Now, thanks to this, I probably won't see the fourth.
