MPAA RATING: Not rated

Starring John Viener, Paige Turco, Syd Field, Christopher Lawford, and Chef Tel

Depicts the naïve, first-time filmmaker, John Viener. When it becomes evident to John that everyone on the block is making a film, he decides that he, too, can be the next Steven Spielberg. He soon decides that his goal is to make a film, and to not only enter, but to win the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, because as he says at one point in the film "how hard can that be?" Mr. Showbiz Kevin Maynard
This is slight stuff, but the legions of budding Scorseses and Kevin Smiths might actually learn a little something, and they will certainly enjoy a chortle or two -- even if it is at their own expense.

Village Voice Amy Taubin
An Indiewood spoof that's more winning than anyone who wasn't a close friend of the director could possibly expect, R2PC satirizes not only wannabe auteurs but also that overworked genre, the faux documentary, while functioning as a credible study guide for Filmmaking 101.

New York Daily News Elizabeth Weitzman
If you want to make a film, this is a great place to start. But if you just want to watch one, it's more of dead end.

Hugely smug and annoying.

The New York Times A.O. Scott
The intentionally self-conscious style of R2PC is a little hard to take sometimes because the movie is trying too hard to be funny.

A pointless, wincingly snide exercise.

Angelo P. gave it a 10:
Consistently hilarious, I don't know much about movies but I know more now. It's not high art, but it is funny as all heck.

Viktoria L. gave it a 10:
Clever, witty, fun, informative. Everything I want from a movie. Deserves much more credit than it has recieved. Run don't walk for this one.

Chip D. gave it a 9:
It's really funny.
