Entertainment Weekly Gregory Kirschling

The production values have become so horror-movie shoddy that Saw V has more in common with kitsch like "Friday the 13th Part V" than the original "Saw."

LA Weekly Luke Y. Thompson

The method to the madness of the traps turns out to be quite clever, but the rewriting of Saw mythology is the slasher equivalent of revising Star Wars so that Greedo fires at Han Solo first.

Film Threat Scott Mendelson

This is easily the smallest-scale of the sequels, and it has the feeling of a massively shrunken budget.

TV Guide Jeremy Wheeler

It's cheap, sloppy, and too jumbled up to know what it should be.

Austin Chronicle Marc Savlov

Truly, the greatest torture of all is boredom.

USA Today Claudia Puig

Saw V is a terrible combination: grisly and tedious. Let's just call it bloody dull.

The Onion (A.V. Club) Nathan Rabin

Devotes so much time and energy to flashbacks and recycling footage from its predecessors that it threatens to implode.

New York Daily News Elizabeth Weitzman

This year's installment is as disappointing as a Halloween bag filled with nothing but raisins.

Boston Globe Wesley Morris

Oh, Jigsaw. Here we go again. You kill. I doze off. Someone at the studio goes "ka-ching!"

Los Angeles Times Sam Adams

A particularly dull and discombobulated affair, shot and acted with all the flair of a basic-cable procedural. Patterson and Mandylor are so wooden that their cat-and-mouse game has all the excitement of watching dust bunnies swirl in an air current.

The New York Times Nathan Lee

Skips back and forth in time, trying to piece together who did what, when and why. The only question really worth asking here: Who cares?

Chris K. gave it a7:
Are these movies starting to get disgusting and to similar.

Tim E gave it a0:
I've seen all the Saw movies and this one was really weak. The plot was sort of nothing, the "game" itsself was really short. I think this series is done.

daniel daniel gave it a0:
saw is the most disgusting thing ever, how can any of you saw saw 1-4 are the best is it nice watching others get tortured, i know it is only a movie but a movie represents something i am not saying dont watch em but still you cant say they give you anything you to learn

mauricio l. gave it a6:
Ok , if u have seen all the others u have to see this one ,. i really liked it. and it really gives a concluicion to all of the otthers.

Jay H gave it a3:
Unpleasant people doing extremely unpleasant things. My, what fun! Extremely gory and nasty, not much of a plot. The acting is fair. Pointless.

Jessica S. gave it a2:
At first I was a big Saw fan as i enjoy gory horror films, and i like all of the games throughout the films. This Saw went so far away from the first movie it was unbelievable, After all when you go to watch a horror you do expect blood, all there was in this was one game which was crap, a plot that jumped around from 1 saw to another throughout it made you feel dizzy and a ending which was a total let down, i mean i love saw 1 but it has now got terribly numb.

Sawno M. gave it a0:
Saw 1 and 3 were great, (i personally prefer three) saw 2 was alright, but saw 4 was pretty bad. by saw 4 they were making shit up and production values were getting lower. But by saw five... well lets just say it was MORTIFYING.
