Summary
RATING: PG-13 for some sexual material
Starring Amanda Bynes, Channing Tatum, Laura Ramsey, Vinnie Jones, David Cross, Julie Hagerty, Robert Hoffman, and Alex Breckenridge
It's hard enough being the nerdy new guy on campus without also being the new girl on campus, who has fallen for the coolest guy on campus, who is totally obsessed with the most beautiful girl on campus, who is "crushing" on the nerdy new guy on campus. That's just the beginning in this contemporary comedy inspired by Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night." (DreamWorks)

Seattle Post-Intelligencer Winda Benedetti
Most of the laughs are due to Bynes, a vibrant young actress with excellent comedic chops.

This is a perfectly pleasant, entertaining and often witty romp with engaging performances.

Of Amanda Bynes let us say that she is sunny and plucky and somehow finds a way to play her impossible role without clearing her throat more than six or eight times.
Read Full Review >TV Guide Ken Fox
It will certainly appeal to its target audience, and Bynes is charming enough to carry the whole film on her shoulders, which is a good thing considering that she's in just about every scene and leading man Tatum is a stiff.

A screwball comedy that made me wish I were 13 again, because this is precisely the kind of movie I would have gone nuts for in the ninth grade.

In this it succeeds. Like the Bard said, better witty foolishness than foolish wit.

So good-natured, and its cast seems to enjoy itself so thoroughly, that the total annihilation of disbelief it requires winds up feeling like a reasonable enough request.

It's a cute romantic comedy, just as Shakespeare intended.

Nothing classes up a teen movie better than the classics.

The girls who adore the likable Everygirl Bynes will find a lot to enjoy about the film, especially the boys who look as though they just were lounging around the Abercrombie & Fitch catalog.

Has a certain charm and is sure to appeal to tweens, at least the female variety.

A cross-dressing comedy that's all dressing can only, well, leave you cross.
Read Full Review >New York Post Lou Lumenick
Thanks to a winning cast, all of this is funnier than you would expect considering the erratic script.
Read Full Review >Chicago Reader J.R. Jones
Fickman mostly soft-pedals the play's homosexual panic, generating a comedy that lacks both the verbal sophistication of its source and the sexual sophistication of its target audience.
Read Full Review >ReelViews James Berardinelli
Neither smart enough nor funny enough to have cross-over appeal to any other demographic.
Read Full Review >Variety Robert Koehler
As insistent as its heroine to get its point across, She's the Man gathers up enough energy and likeable goodwill that it almost skirts past some extremely strained passages in which Bynes plays out being a boy.
Read Full Review >Village Voice Jordan Harper
Doesn't have an unpredictable moment in it, borrowing heavily from just about every sports movie or teen comedy ever and, oh yeah, "Twelfth Night."
Read Full Review >LA Weekly Scott Foundas
She’s the Man amounts to little more than softcore porn for the tween set, with aesthetics ripped from the pages of the Abercrombie & Fitch catalog and virtually every scene revolving around Viola/Sebastian’s crafty escape from some impromptu disrobing.
Read Full Review >Entertainment Weekly Owen Gleiberman
As an actress, Bynes is wholesome to a fault. She impersonates a teenage boy yet never gives him one good dirty thought.

Another gate-crasher at the let's-do-a-mediocre-update-of-Shakespeare party.

The highschool hijinks may entertain the young, but those more familiar with the Bard will recognise this as a wasted opportunity.
Read Full Review >Baltimore Sun Michael Sragow
The surefire laugh-getter centers on using a tampon to stop a nosebleed. Watching this movie, I had to hope it could stop brain-drain.
Read Full Review >The New York Times Nathan Lee
Everything projects as if for the benefit of a nearsighted and dimwitted ticket holder at the back of the room. To his credit, Mr. Fickman has mastered one device unique to the cinema, making repeated use of the corny training montage.
Read Full Review >The Hollywood Reporter Kirk Honeycutt
Fails to exploit the myriad comedic possibilities, settling instead for broad, unconvincing slapstick aimed at 12-year-olds and gags Shakespeare would have rejected as ancient.
Read Full Review >Austin Chronicle Marc Savlov
Its kooky hybrid of slapstick gender jokes already had whiskers on 'em in Shakespeare's day.
Read Full Review >Rolling Stone Peter Travers
There I sit, suffering total numbness of body and brain, no longer having to wonder what it might be like to be buried alive in gooey marshmallow.
Read Full Review >The Onion (A.V. Club) Keith Phipps
Bynes appears in practically every scene, and the film seems to have been designed as a showcase for her comedic skills, which she apparently left behind in the trailer.

I really liked it and i thought amanda byns did great in it and was hilarious I think that it totally deservers a 10 and NOT a 0. The people who gave it a 0 are all crazy and probably have no sense of humor.just take my advice and watch it, you wont regret it! =]
William L. gave it a0:
Possibly one of the worst movies i have ever seen. If you like this movie then you probably like to watch movies with terrible actors and actresses. Personally, i dont like to watch Girls pretending to be men, and eat chicken like a dog that hasnt eaten in 5 days. Amanda Bynes is very very bad in this movie. i dont reccomend this movie to anyone, unless you have Down Syndrome, that way you proably wont even know whats going on, and wont remember it. The only thing you will hear while watching this movie is.... oh wait, my mistake... no one is watching this movie because it sucks. Shakespeare is rolling in his grave.
Adam W. gave it a9:
Wow. I had no idea that Amanda Bynes was so funny. Not only is she more funny in this movie than most people are in other comedies, but also the movie itself is well done, with an excellent adaptation and hilarious editing. A sharp movie not to be missed.
Elle S gave it a10:
Fantastically funny and interesting way to inspire Shakespeare in a younger audience. Amanda Bynes is bubbly and wonderful!
Vera M. gave it a7:
Hello, people Don´t be so crabby. This is supposed to be a joke, and it´s funny like this. Amanda is a promise, Channing is...wow!
Lauren gave it a0:
That was quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. The concept is ridiculous as well as cliched. It tries to recreate the sucess of Bend It Like Beckam, jumping on the 'female soccer player' band wagon that Bend It created. Sadly it missed the bandwagon, along with the realms of realistic, intelligent and funny. The humour is barely above that of toilet humour, in some cases including it. The film relies heavily on the comic differences between boys and girls, which were not funny to start of with, after the thousandth time they cause you to grimace. With that aside, the film is outstanding in one aspect, it's ability to fool some people into thinking that it is worthwhile. I am astounded that someone could actually come up with such a tear-inducing pile of drivel, let alone convince others to produce it.
