Summary

RATING: PG-13 for sequences of violent action throughout, partial nudity and language

Starring Michael Panes, Cheri Oteri, Jane Lynch, Sam Robards, Savannah Haske, Peter Dinklage, Billy Nash, and Jackie Katzman

In the tradition of "Waiting for Guffman" and "Take the Money and Run," a documentary film crew captures the pitfalls and pratfalls of reality show winner Dennis Flotchky. One million dollars richer and 150 pounds thinner but none the wiser, Dennis quickly and hilariously falls prey to the machinations of the Hollywood celebrity maker and the vultures and hangers-on the accompany it. TV Guide Angel Cohn

Only Lynch's over-the-top network executive stands out in this otherwise bland film that tries for satire but neglects to be funny.

Chicago Tribune Michael Wilmington

There's nothing classic about Surviving Eden, even if it is better than reality TV.

Chicago Reader J.R. Jones

Its labored goofiness seldom transcends the stale format.

The New York Times Stephen Holden

Although the early scenes hold out some promise...the movie quickly runs out of ideas.

New York Daily News Elizabeth Weitzman

The movie is hindered by its weak script, but there's also a bigger problem to overcome: If we want to laugh at superficial celebrities, we already have plenty to choose from in real life.

Variety Todd McCarthy

A flighty and unnecessary send-up of reality television.

New York Post Lou Lumenick

An impressive supporting cast can't save this painfully unfunny, ham-fisted mockumentary poking fun at reality TV shows.

Village Voice Joshua Land

This witless satire dares to take on the culture of--get ready for this--reality TV! Arriving a stupefying five years out of date, Surviving Eden is a not particularly rigorous attempt at mockumentary.

Peter M. gave it an8:
I'm a huge Cheri Oteri fan, and I went to see this in NY and she was hilarious! The whole movie is really funny, and then it gets kinda sad near the end. I loved it.
