80

Los Angeles Times Kevin Thomas

A swift and amusing martial-action, adventure-horror picture with a bold, larger-than-life comic-book sensibility and richly atmospheric production design.

Salon.com Andrew O'Hehir

It's a sloppy, fun, late-'80s style Hong Kong action flick full of pogo-dancing zombies and voracious vampires who look vaguely like Siamese cats with spoiled cottage cheese cooked onto their faces.

New York Daily News Jami Bernard

Pleasantly cheesy but undistinguished martial-arts and horror fare.

The New York Times Anita Gates

Murky, third-rate martial-arts film.

Village Voice Dennis Lim

The finale is a near-abstract mess (decapitation, impalation, "Alien" birth) -- in an empathic gesture, the filmmakers end it all with a few sticks of TNT.

TV Guide Maitland McDonagh

It's more silly than scary and relies excessively on surprisingly low-rent CGI effects and crude wirework to drum up interest in the slight story.

Variety Robert Koehler

Has the stench less of rotting flesh than the whiff of a thoughtless quickie.

Marc-o gave it a 2:
This had a promising start but went knowhere fast at 85 mins it's quite short but on two attempts i still failed to watch the whole movie without falling asleep, the DVD box said something about horror in the tradition of 'Crouching Tiger' a bold statement but a complete falsehood. Not terrible just not interesting.

Jifu gave it a 2:
A great beginning, gets you all excited for the move, but the rest of the movie drags and drags and drags...and then the ending isn't worth fast forwarding through. The bouncing zombies give a couple laughs.
