San Francisco Chronicle Jonathan Curiel

Dramatic, funny, fun, silly, musical, stylish, romantic and redemptive -- a film worth telling your friends and neighbors about.

Variety Derek Elley

Though it doesn't quite match recent classics like "Kabhi khushi kabhie gham" in sheer technique and production sheen, in-depth star casting and thorough entertainment values make this a must-see for Bollywatchers.

TV Guide Maitland McDonagh

Yash Chopra's thinly veiled plea for reconciliation between India and Pakistan is cloaked in a decades-spanning Romeo-and-Juliet romance.

Village Voice Laura Sinagra

With just the right balance of epic grandeur and break-into-song goofiness, this Bollywood love legend does double duty as a women's-rights manifesto and a plea for amity between India and Pakistan.

The New York Times Anita Gates

If Veer-Zaara were an American television movie, it would be embraced as fabulously trashy.

Nasim H. gave it a 9:
This film hits the people in particular from Punjab. People from Punjab can really appreciate small details, dialogues and overall setting. Shah Rukh and Amitabh feel very comfortable in their role. For people who understand Urdu poetry will be enchanted by the last court poem rendered with controlled passion by Shah Rukh. The director has eyes on very small details. The scene in a dhaba, bus ride, punjabi folk songs are included to give a real flavour. A great film by Yash.

Venu S. gave it a 10:
For me this story is like a true love story. There's someone is made for every person. If the person is made for you, even if you have to for so long the person at last be with you forever. Veer and Zaara they lived for 22 years knowing that Veer had died and Zaara had married another man. At last after the 22 years they lived happily ever after. The story is really alive. I feel their are not acting,is a legendary love story.
