Chicago Sun-Times Roger Ebert
A love story so sweet, sincere and positive that it sneaks past the defenses built up in this age of irony.

It's wholesome as a glass of milk, and as refreshing.

San Francisco Chronicle Octavio Roca
A movie for teenagers, and, as these things go, very entertaining.

What saves the film is the chemistry between the two leads.

West delivers the emotional goods when tragedy strikes in the final reel. If 17-year-old pop star Moore isn't a skilled actress, she's at least unassuming.

This realist fairy tale of impossible love has a fair amount of nuance and charm.

A sensitively told story of first love that could have been more affecting with a little more grit and without so mawkish a score.

Miami Herald Connie Ogle
The film is well-scrubbed of anything resembling sexuality, more a nonthreatening fairy tale than the romantic drama it aims to be. Its appeal flies straight to the hearts of 13-year-old girls.

New York Post Lou Lumenick
About as edgy as a cup of Ovaltine, A Walk to Remember is an old-fashioned teen romance so sweet and free of irony that criticizing it feels like taking a baseball bat to a sack full of newborn kittens.

A glossy teen-weepie romance that often plays like an inspirational indie skewed toward Christian niche market.

Since the movie has so little conviction, or personality of its own, it's a walk you can easily forget.

Basically a prim, desexualized "Carrie," told from the prom date's perspective and featuring Peter Coyote in the Piper Laurie role.

Audiences who have avoided the multiplex these last few years because of the garbage peddled there are the only ones for whom this overly familiar "Walk" will be memorable.

The audience for this chaste teen romance won't be film lovers, as the movie is sappy and listlessly paced. But it's just the ticket for people who want their movies sanitized.

Good performances in bad movies are nothing new, but it's sad that Moore's first major cinematic outing scrapes the bottom of the melodramatic barrel.

Just because A Walk to Remember is shrewd enough to activate girlish tear ducts doesn't mean it's good enough for our girls. They're willing to buy tickets; why not honor their wits as well as their wallets?

Adam C gave it a9:
Great drama movie. It has the laughs, tears, and soft moments a drama movie should have. Good for a date movie or to just pop in and rewatch! One of Mandy's best works.

Clay gave it a3:
Boring, and totally unoriginal. A girl who gets teased a lot, and then some popular guy spends time to fulfill her top 3 to-do list? What? If you're going to go fantasy/fairytale, make it a cartoon. It isn't horrible, but it falls short and it's dull.

Pierre-Luc T gave it a6:
This movie's good, but hardly spectacular. As many say, the performances are good, and I agree that both Shane West and Mandy Moore play their roles well. However, the plot in itself is just terribly uncreative and foreseeable. This was hardly the amazing film I was told from my friend, although she sure seemed touched by it last night, and the dozens of other times shes seen it. I honestly just don't get it.

John T. gave it a10:
It is a story of: faith (in God and its love), reconciliation (between teens and parents) forgiveness (to a father who let down a joung kid), discovery (of others' deep sentiments and aspirations) It is a real journey with an unexpected transformation (of Landon from kid to a man) inspired y a beautiful Many Moore, whose voice and songs is spectacular. Get straith on top of my film collection and is a daily inspiration in my life. It would have deserved some better judgement from cinematografic critics. This is a true masterpiece for those who can understand its deep meaning (far beyond the simple love story).

Matthew S. gave it a10:
this is the most touching and influening movies I ever seen.

Angel L. gave it a10:
A movie too beautiful for the cynical mind to accept. Mandy Moore was sorely lacking in experience though perhaps that leant credibility to her role. Shane West was fantastic! He knew the role and tended to its requirements. He had me bought, hooked, and breaking it off with the Significant Other, and that was before he pleaded with his cardiologist father to cure a cancerous Jamie. I mean honestly, who doesn't want; crave to be loved by Shane's Landon? A lover's movie. Parents, Siblings, Friends, Fresh and Jaded lovers. In written form it drips candy, but allow yourself and you too will empty the kleenex boxes. In short, Everyone wants to be Jamie, but we're all afraid to admit it. Terrified of breaking step with the norm. Perhaps we wait until death knocks on our door.

amoa a. gave it a10:
Beautifull love story:)
