The fifty stages are challenging without being frustrating, and collectables, an endless mode, and achievements will keep you coming back for more. For fans of simple platformers — and endless runners, too — this is a fantastic little joyride.
(This is almost the same review as for the PS VITA version)
Bike Rider DX is one of the less expensive games in the eShop, but maybe also one of the most fun ones. While the controls (basically the game is all about jumping) are fairly simple, it's a fun and at times also challenging platform jump'n'run with neat graphics, fancy techno style BGM and more than 50 stages to play.
There are two overall game modes called WORLD TOUR and GRAND PRIX. The WORLD TOUR leads you through different locations of the world like the alps, Beijing or even the North Pole, and each stage has it's own gimmicks and items. After finishing all the stages you can play a set of EXTRA stages that look pretty cool, one of them being an erupting volcano and another being a vampire's castle (this one is fun because there is a day and a night stage). The GRAND PRIX on the other hand is an endless race mode which is fun to play when you're through with all the stages because the course is created randomly and therefore it never gets boring.
I did not expect to find such a complete and well-done game for a more than reasonable price of 6 bucks.
At first look, Bike Rider DX looks like a simple platformer like there are many others out in the games world, but as it was not too expensive I gave it a shot, and I am absolutely glad I did.
The controls are as simple as the game art suggests, but that exactly is what makes the fun. Bike Rider DX is about jumping through a set of levels based on cities or places around the world, dodging all kinds of stuff like giant birds, falling rocks or spikes and collecting coins while trying to reach the goal of each level. The jump timing needed to get the coins or dodge the obstacles gets tougher with every stage and the game gets pretty challenging, even for an experienced gamer like I am.
There's also an endless mode that basically creates a random endless course with a random skin and the player can try to beat his high score and eventually unlock bonus stages or a HARD mode.
The game is fun, really fun, and it is somehow addictive in I way I did not expect.
If you like platformers, check it out. It's worth it.
No online hurts its longevity, and the generic game design fails to set it apart from the crowd, but deep down there's a fun but flawed auto-runner here.
Despite this solid grounding though, the price leaves a lot to be desired. This one is best saved for players in unique circumstances: those who lack a smartphone and are craving something in the genre.
It's a good casualgame, but they are not many levels and it cost a lot for this gameplay and i'm not american, i'm german boy. so i see it difficult as you :)
Fun to play, the stages look nice and the controls are smooth, but the first few stages are just too easy. Game gets really cool after clearing the first 4-5 stages (about 20 levels). Endless mode is fun too, didn't manage to reach the hard mode yet.
