The lack of a versus mode, a minimal usage of the 3D feature and the bad atmosphere are lowering the score, while the rest offers you a solid 2D-jump'n'run game in the world of Naruto Shippuden.
It'll appeal to fans, but this by-the-books platformer takes far too long to warm up. [Aug 2011, p.98]
Naruto Shippuden 3D: The New Era feels like an original DS game with texture filtering, poorly executed 3D, and game breaking motion sensor controls tacked on.
There is a decent game crying to get out, but poor design choices mean that Naruto needs to go back to ninja training.
Naruto Shippuden 3D: The New Era is a really flawed game which looks like it has been developed for the previous system and then rushed over the Nintendo 3DS to push its sales by appealing fans of the young ninja.
Naruto is the golden eggs goose, like Dragon Ball in its time. Some titles may rise above the average, but this one isn't one of them. Be weary of the quickly produced, fan service products like this game and its poor combat gameplay.
