It's long, has a great narrative and combines the gameplay both series in an outstanding way. If you just like one of them you'll "only" enjoy half of the experience, but if you like both, it's a game you cannot miss.

A great cross-over, that mixes up two different gameplay styles and boasts a huge amount of playing time.
  3. Apr 15, 2014
An amazing cross-over, that melts two different styles in a very smart way.

Instead of delivering a mixed experience between two different gameplay styles, Layton vs Ace Attorney feels as if Capcom and Level-5 had left something on their way to 3DS. The storyline is fun and entertaining and the old-school gameplay works just fine, but we hoped to find something beyond the classical Layton/Ace Attorney experience, that is: a brand new title with the best of both worlds.
  5. Mar 19, 2014
This isn't the best Layton game, this isn't the best Phoenix Wright title, but it's an interesting and very logic experiment that deserves the fan's attention.
  6. Mar 21, 2014
It sacrifices some of both series’ challenge, and the alternate-universe story feels like a missed opportunity where there could have been more meaningful interaction between the worlds of Wright and Layton.

Impossible not to be disappointed after so long a wait. But when one witnesses the result, on will probably think that this cross-over wasn't meant to be. I love spaghetti, and I love chocolate spread, but with a little thinking, I wouldn't mix the two. Maybe that's how they should have contemplated this wedding between Layton and Wright. Even the brilliant production values, 3D transition and exquisite music are not enough to make us forget about the dull situations one has to repeat over and over again. It's the poorest of the Phoenix Wrights and the most laughable Layton.
