It's mystifying that Samurai Warriors: Chronicles hasn't been endorsed by more stores, because it is a surprisingly strong title, trumping the quality of the Wii version by quite a long shot.

Even if you're not a big Dynasty Warriors fan, there's a whole lot to enjoy here, and while the combat can grow a bit stale, the way the touch screen stuff is implemented really speeds up the battles compared to the home console titles.

Fans of hack 'n' slays and an affinity for Japan can't do anything wrong by picking up this title.

A strong 3DS title making full use of the consoles features that has been overlooked. This will keep you busy for hours and those looking for a good 3DS game should look no further and give Samurai Warriors: Chronicles a look.

It's basically a history lesson meets the X-Men, and every bit as goofy as that sounds. [Apr 2011, p.70]

Unfortunately reviewers don't like using character combos and blame the games for the fact they keep mashing one button. Not the best use of 3D on the system, but some of the cutscenes will leave your mouth open. Full Review »

Most critics blast them for failing to evolve enough between entries but I feel that as a result each entry- taken on its own merit alone is often better then the review it receives. The reviews might as well break down into: Do you like Dynasty Warriors or not. If you do then this is a good portable entry in the series. I grade on a curve with portable releases of console games, and while not perfect Samurai Warriors is the best experience Musou experience on the console. Yes it is also the only one but, it holds up well. Here's a 10 to balance the critic reviews which are always sour on this series. Full Review »
