Just like all games in the Shin Megami Tensei series. this game is not for everyone. I personally love the series, but I'm not the biggest fan of this installment. First off, I will say that the story is very interesting, and thats not where my problem lies in this game. I have never been a big fan of SRPGs, this game included. My problem lies in the fact that this game is as difficult as games like Nocturne, except its very difficult, even just to grind. I find this problem with nearly all SRPGs (spare maybe Fire Emblem: Awakening), and is a reason why I am not a huge fan of the genre. When getting Devil Survivor, just make sure your up to the challenge, and be ready to enjoy a great story with multiple ending. Expand

Truly the definitive version of the game. A number of enhancements make this version the best way to experience Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor. However, people who have played the original do not need to get this version.

Devil Survivor is a fantastic RPG that I would recommend to any RPG fan. Devil Survivor:Overclocked is the exact same game with little new content. The voice acting is acceptable, although not as good as other games in the SMT series, the inclusion of an eighth day is nice although unneeded, none of the new demons do anything noteworthy, and the game's new easy mode will is nice, as it allows people to play through the game with ease rather than spending countless hours grinding against the same foes like in the original Devil Survior. I'd like to talk about other new features included in the game, although there really isn't much else included in this game that wasn't in the original game! I'm especially disappointed by this remake because of how well Atlus has been able to handle remakes and ports like the entire Persona series on the PSP.
This is by no means a bad game, although I regret paying $40 for what is essentially a DS game with voiceacting

Turn base Anime Drama I love it is like Pokemon and Fire Emblem had a demon baby. this a must own for the 3DS. I love the choices it really gets you into the story. The characters are unique and for once a story makes a solid RPG.

Great story, superb music and good sprites and good voice acting, what else can you ask for? Well there is a little thing, it doesn't use the 3D effect, it can be bad for some people, but for myself, I play in 2D mode in my 3ds 90% of the time anyway....

This is THE best game I have ever played. The story was phenomenal, the characters were entertaining, and the music was fantastic. Compared to the previous game, the voice acting added A LOT of emotion to it, and really made me continue to play rather than get bored and lose motivation to read long walls of text. The 8th day really made the game and it was added to this game only. The graphics were MUCH improved with less pixels being visible and instead demons in battles are much more crisp and clear. The sound quality improved over the last game as well. I cannot express how great this game was. Expand

Devil Survivor blends RPG and tactical strategy with an original story with a decent cast of characters. I didn't play the original version, so I decided to pick this one up instead when I saw it on sale. The voice acting is on point, though I do have some disagreements on some of the character's voice, one of which that makes my ears bleed, but that is besides the point. The game however doesn't use the 3D capability that the 3DS offers which is quite a shame seeing how good a game like this could be if more 3D aspects were added. Overall, I found the various aspects of the game fun and enjoyable from the auctions to the fusing aspects and the limitless possibilities, as well as the various alternate endings, and the bonus day after completing the game. I might be a little bias on this game since the voice actress for Yuzu is the same as Rika from Digimon Tamers but considering the game's storyline, I found that to be a good decision on Atlus's part. Gameplay wise I took me while to understand the mechanics but once I did, it was easy to exploit all of its aspects to my advantage. Get ready for level grinding tho since I found myself hitting some annoying difficulty spikes throughout the game.

Is the 3D **** A 100% yes!! However it doesn't change it from an awesome JRPG. Give it a chance!

You're better off getting the DS version as it's basically a direct port and the lack of 3d (Save for the demon fusing and other small 3d bits) doesn't make it worth getting. only reason i'd suggest trying it is if you loved this game on the DS and want that 1 extra day. past that, the game is a decent tactical rpg. the characters feel fleshed out well enough and the voice acting wasn't ear-bleedingly awful. the graphics are pretty much the same as the DS copy. in all seriousness, this game should have been passed by or at the very least given an overhaul. Altus, i would think, is getting lazy with this one. save your money, get the DS version... you'll get (almost) the exact same experience but you'll be saving money and telling companies like Altus to not be lazy gits and actually give us some actual 3d for a 3d game. This is a great game, and is especially recommended for everyone who never played the original. For anyone who has played the original, though, you can pass on Overclocked (the optional voice acting and extra demons/eighth day aren't really enough content to make an original experience). It's a challenging game, and the lack of 3D is great (I hope it encourages other 3DS developers to avoid this restrictive gimmick). It's a great game by Atlus and well worth your money. Expand

This game is not in 3D. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, this is also one of the best games on the system, even though it is a remake. You take the original game, which was great by itself, add in various prologues for whatever ending you achieved in the game, add in some hit or miss voice acting with some recognizable anime people, and you've got a good remake of a great game. If you already played the original to death then you won't enjoy this. There's not enough to warrant buying the game again. However anyone new the game, like I was, would be a fool to pass this one up. As long as you know what your getting into before you buy this game, fans of the series and of RPG's will enjoy this game immensely, even if there isn't any 3D beyond the intro cinematic when you start up the game. You won't be let down if you do that. Collapse

I don't care if this game was 3d that gimmick annoys me anyway. the battle were fun and was getting into it then I started dying repeatably and the game does not skip cinemas if you. So after watching the same cinema 7 times I decided to send it back to gamefly atlas games never do it for normal humans any way. I never played the first oneon DS but 3ds fare is kinda lean. This not great but interesting battle and story is nice. Expand

FINALLY! a 3D game that is not in 3D. Seriously, why charge 39.99 for a 3DS game when only the opening and the demon fusing segments are in 3D?? Save your money and keep the DS version from a couple years ago.

Same great game from 09. Now with fully voiced, added easy mode, and little tweaks here and there. I hate to see people giving this game bad scores for the lack of 3d. I see this game as a love letter from Atlus to all the Shim Megami Tensei fans out there. I for one welcome this game into my SMT collection with open arms.

First off, this is an amazing game, regardless of the fact that it doesn't have any 3D save for the opening sequence and demon fusing. If you're a fan of tactical RPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem, I highly recommend it. The game lasts several hours, it took me well over 60 on my first playthrough on the DS version. There are many positives that come with this game, even if you bought the original. There are 20 more demons for a combined 150 demons, a full voice cast which, while people say it isn't good, I thoroughly enjoyed how clear it all sounded, and an added 8th Day which is more then an epilogue. If you're a JRPG fan and own a 3DS, this is a must buy. Expand

This game is not in 3D! There is a great 3D animated intro, but after that the game pretty much takes place on the bottom screen. I am a huge Shin Megami fan, and skipped the DS version of Devil Survivor, so the new version was one of the reasons I bought a 3DS. The game itself plays like all the other SMT games, collecting/fusing demons, with the added element of grid based srpg battles where when you do face your enemy, the battle plays out like any other SMT game. The game itself is on par with the other SMT games, and more animated than Strange Journey, so if 3D is no big deal and you just need a good jrpg, you will be very happy with this title.
The biggest disappointment is that this is a remake of a game that just came out a couple years ago, on a new system that is selling itself on new technology (3D), and wasn't remade to take advantage of that technology. Ghost Recon did an amazing job of taking the standard SRPG grid and turning it into 3D eye candy and that was a launch game! This game was delayed a few months after the original release date, so I was at least expecting something similar. This is the most disappointed I've been with Atlus ever.

In theory Overclocked is a successful remake of one of the DS’ grand role-playing games. Unfortunately preventable technical glitches like regular freezes and occasional crashes take a lot away from its’ theoretically well deserved glory.

It’s a very rewarding game, not just in its mechanics, but with the plot and its possibilities of altered scenarios playing out.

Devil Survivor Overclocked is the sort of JRPG that made the Nintendo DS the one-stop shop for tactical handheld gameplay - and now it's passing the favour onto the 3DS.
