  • Summary: SpeedX 3D for Nintendo 3DS is stunning tunnel racer that tests player's skill and transport him or her into a trans filled with great electronic music and hypnotic graphics. SpeedX 3D offers four game modes introducing player to more and more challenging places at speed that increases with every second. The question is: how far can the player go without losing the concentration? Collapse

Whether the 3D effects are worth that extra soy latte is up to the consumer, but they're certainly good-looking– and SpeedX 3D is great-playing.

peedX 3D is proof that quality games are quality games, no matter what their origin happens to be. Although the frame rate could be better, the impression of depth and speed is amazing, and the use of 3D incredibly effective. To top it all off, the inclusion of traditional pad control means that this version of SpeedX 3D is more intuitive and enjoyable than its mobile forerunners - in fact, it's quite possibly the best iteration of the game yet seen, and a highly recommended download for your 3DS.

Gamelion shows it can make a fast-paced pseudo racing game with SpeedX 3D, but a paucity of content and experimentation will leave hardcore gamers cold.
  4. The 3D completely nullifies the point of having an option for motion control. [Oct 2012, p.96]

Frame-rate hiccups throw us out of the trace, but for 2.70 quid, this isn't too bad. [Nov 2012, p.85]

Endless is simply an endurance mode, take the between-level break out of Stages mode and this is what you're left with. Survival takes away the chance of surviving an impact, and Zones forces you to contend with a fuel gauge (in the place of shield pick-ups are those that add fuel). While these modes are different from one another, it all just feels the same. There is no feeling of progression in SpeedX 3D, if you can dodge obstacles in one event, you can and will in any other.

Here's a great example of a game that clearly benefits from the 3DS's stereoscopic capability. When your task in the game is to fly along a morphing path while avoiding collisions with large blocks, it really helps if the game throws in depth perception, helping your reflexes by giving them that extra edge. Despite the game's simplicity, it's addicting, challenging and fun. Expand
