The intuitive controls have been retained, but to enhance the original's sim-like feel, a slice button has been added and the serves are a little more difficult to perfect.

Not only a game anyone can fall in love with but among the best titles I've played on the Dreamcast.

  5. Every bit as impressive as anything in the EA Sports stable, and is required playing for anyone who loves sports games. [Jan 2002, p.90]

  7. Tennis 2K2’s solid gameplay and impressive presentation prove that the Dreamcast still has some steam behind it.

  9. Brilliant. Fans of the original have to buy this as it’s taken the winning formula and improved it in ever way conceivable.

  11. The difficulty level is significantly higher, be that a good or a bad thing, I’ll leave it to you to decide.

  13. Although the female players are an excellent addition, and the create-a-player is another good move, there are noticeable gaps in the lineup, including Sampras and Chang.

  15. Fun, addictive, and presentation-wise it’s so glossy that you can’t help but admire its polished spingle-spangle sparkle, even if you don’t like tennis.

  17. As a sequel that improves on the original and gives experienced players a reason to shell out another $40, Tennis 2K2 is a smashing success. I think I just made a tennis pun, but I'm not sure.

  19. While the game offers improved graphics, an expanded roster of players, and tightened gameplay, the changes made may not be enough to seduce fans of the original Virtua Tennis.

  21. An excellent tennis game, easily the best one out there.

  25. An incredibly complete sport simulation that captures, not only the heart of the sport, but also pays close attention to all of the little details that tennis fans love about the game.

Just AMAZING! Soooo many good points about this game. It looks realisitc, it doesn't play that realistic, but its amazing action. SOOO many things to unlock and so many things to do. Around 30 courts, and loads of top male and female players. This is my favourite Dreamcast game EVER, and in my view Virtua Tennis is the best sports title ever made. Very addictive, easy to play, hard to master. You will keep comming back to it, whether to level up your create tennis player, to play doubles or to become world number 1 in season mode as well as unlocking new courts, new clothes, rackets, and King and Queen. It's a MUST, MUST buy! Full Review »

I love how you can play 2 on 2 with this game. I even got my girlfriend to stop bickering my to get off my Dreamcast and pick up a controller. I also like the fact that you can make your own player... nice! 2 thumbs up... although I will agree that it can get pretty difficult. Full Review »

Great game! I can't imagine why Hingis, Capriati and Kournikova are not on here - nor Sampras or Agassi - but other than that it's an excellent game. Great graphics and real action! Full Review »
