Mastering the logistical side of things offers plenty of rewards for thoughtful players, and there's nothing like clearing the map with the blades of your wolf-riding Valkyrie hordes. [Holiday 2008, p.84]

That being said, if you haven't yet played an Age of Empires title on the DS, Mythologies is without question the most competent turn-based strategy game available for the console, and if you're a fan of mythology, all the better.
  3. It's got more in common with Advance Wars, but this is still a great strategy game – real-time or not.
  4. If your emphasis is purely on strategic and tactical gameplay, AoE is unlikely to disappointment. It may lack soul and charm, but AoE has that essential ‘just one more turn before bedtime’ appeal to it. If however you want a more rounded package, something that has charm in addition to gameplay, and one that is likely to live long in the memory afterwards, there are many better suited titles to choose from.
  5. A thoroughly decent strategy affair, and a fine diluting of a PC classic. If you're a series fan and missed out on Age of Kings, then Mythologies is a worthy addition to your collection.
  6. Overall the game isn't bad. Given the turn-based strategy and JRPG competition on DS, this is rental territory. Those that buy Mythologies should do so if they appreciate its multiplayer merits.
  7. The gameplay gets a little too frustrating, the graphics too soulless, and the story too weak to keep us going in for too long.
  8. Mythologies is not a great expansion on the The Age of Empire-series. There might be a story involved with the game, but we didn’t really think it was worth mentioning. The name of the game could have easily been Age of Empires: Mariothologies, you wouldn’t know the difference story wise. When this doesn’t bother you, you’ll find a game you can play for many hours.

Horrible, horrible, horrible sequel. I have no idea how it even gets anywhere near the same score as the original AoK for the DS. Horrible, horrible, horrible sequel. I have no idea how it even gets anywhere near the same score as the original AoK for the DS. They've stripped out everything fun about that game (unit level ups, more civilizations, challenging campaigns) and threw in some bugs and poorly implemented changes to make a completely mediocre game. This is nothing but a poorly done re-hash to rake in some cash from the good name of a classic. Full Review »

One of my favorite ds games. Fun strategy game without getting too compicated. The graphics are pretty great too (for a ds game at least). IfOne of my favorite ds games.
