The guitar and bass sections work as well as previous games did, but the vocals are a little patchy and still don't detect pitch properly, and the drums are pointless on a handheld system. Band Hero is fun and has a bunch of good tunes if you like junk food music like I do, but this is the same experience you’ve been getting out of the Guitar Hero On Tour franchise.

When it comes to bringing the full complement of instruments to the DS, Band Hero represents a very rocky start. If it weren't for the game's shortsighted and unintuitive peripherals, there might actually be something worthwhile here -- assuming you dig the soundtrack, anyhow.
  3. The main Play mode and multiplayer are lots of fun, but there are no other modes - unless, of course, you count Fan Requests, but you can only access them by connecting to a copy of Band Hero Wii.
