  1. If you can have only one racing game on the DS, get Mario Kart DS. However, after that, you'd do well to check out Pixar's Cars: Mater-National Championship.
  2. 80
Mater-National features more of everything: more tracks and more opponents. It is a great game for kids and one of the best racing games on the Nintendo DS.
  3. 80
THQ had an opportunity to cash in on an expensive license with a barely-there effort, but instead decided to spend the time and resources necessary to build a racing game that offers lots of fun for kids and fans of the movie.
  4. 68
It's definitely a better decision to get Cars Mater-National over the DS prequel, but, unless the recipient is in the elementary school age bracket, it's still not recommended.
  5. If you fancy a bit of no-frills drifting action, this is a safe bet. [Issue#17, p.92]
  6. It cannot be compared (favorably) to the console versions, but it's the only iteration of Mater-National that improves upon its predecessor, and is not a bad option for race-loving tykes this holiday season.
  7. The game will be far too easy for all but the youngest set of players, making it hard to recommend for anyone but really young fans of the film.

This game was terrible due to the hard to manage cars and boring tracks. Stay away from it if you can.

Bought this for my young kids for christmas, but have ended up playing it quite often myself. The mini games are a nice side challenge. Highly recommended . Full Review »
