  1. There's plenty to do, and controlling the enemy is a neat twist, but the adventure is over too soon.
  2. Close to achieving Naughty Dog greatness in level design but far away from that success in other areas, Crash of the Titans isn’t on par with its 2D, Game Boy Advance predecessors.
  3. A decent mix of action and platform gameplay, but despite an interesting new feature, Crash of the Titans simply doesn't do enough to stand out in a sea of Nintendo DS titles.
  4. Crash of the Titans is polished and fun while it lasts. We just have a hard time recommending a purchase when it all ends so quickly.
  5. Amaze was able to include the best elements from the more advanced consoles, adding its own twist in pair with the uniqueness of the DS, and the result is positive.

    As a Crash Bandicoot fan, I was totally shocked to see that he was given a complete reboot, and a strange one at that. In an attempt to welcome a change in my favorite IP, I gave the DS version a go since I heard it was the superior version. I was pleased to see that the gameplay in this version wasn't totally different from the PS1 games, though it did have some differences. The goal to collect the crystal at the end of the level still exists, but added to it is Crash's ability to fight in beat-em-up style as well as the Titans. I thought this as a good edition, though Crash felt stiff to control, even more so the Titans. Though there's only 8 levels total, the replay value is still there with the option to break crates and find tiki masks.
    The presentation for the most part is good for the DS. The graphics are well done and animated with good use of color. The music is mostly unmemorable, except the theme for the jungle level in the first world, but that's it. Added to this is annoying voice-acting, terribly forced jokes and puns, and stupid sound bits such as Crash farting as he jumps.
    The story of the game features the same characters from past games, but they're completely redone, mostly for the worst. Crash has gone from a cool, insanely fun hero to a stupid, insanely annoying idiot. Cortex has gone from a fun, memorable villain to a walking, pathetic bag of jokes. The rest of the characters aren't much better with the exception of Nina. Instead of being creepy and strange, now she's the same but with a better design and diabolical character. She's the only improvement.
    Throughout playing this game, I couldn't help but feel I was playing a satire of Crash Bandicoot rather than a reboot. Everything good I've mentioned about this game eventually wears off and then I'm left only with something that's trying to be Crash Bandicoot, yet, at the same time, isn't trying at all. I respect the effort, but I just can't help but ask, "Why?" as I play this game.
