  • Summary: In Music Jam, you play as either Miley Stewart or her alter ego, pop sensation Hannah Montana. As the game unfolds, you'll take on another rising pop singer, Savannah Star, in the music jam video contest. Add to that the problem of Miley's friends being stolen away by a popular new girl in the school and, well, it seems like a girl's work is never done. To develop your musical skills in the game, Music Jam will let you actually play a variety of instruments--from lead or rhythm guitar to bass, and even drums. You'll use a slightly different approach for each instrument, but the common denominator is always the combination of the stylus and touch screen. When playing rhythm guitar to one of Hannah's songs, for example, you'll simply strum the strings of a virtual guitar by moving your stylus across them, changing chords as you go by pressing buttons on the directional pad. 1. Hannah Montana: Music Jam shows a lot of effort and polish, despite a couple of weak points.
  2. It’s not quite Guitar Hero DS, but your little girl will love it.
  3. With clean graphics and fun mini-games, Music Jam is a good composition let down by slow pacing and poor music.
  4. 65
Although it's leaning in a good direction, Music Jam could've used some more rehearsal.
  5. The story mode is ridiculously slow-paced, and involves going to the mall, shopping, changing clothes, getting haircuts… yeah. There are non-music minigames thrown in, but they’re half-assed and the music minigames, which are semi-Guitar Hero-style, are fun, but there’s no way to access them outside the story.
  6. Kudos to Gorilla Games for their effort with Hannah Montana Music Jam, but in the end the product is just bogged down by the adventure mode and a significant amount of mini-games.
  7. 40
Music Jam is definitely a step up from your average, crappy TV show turned even crappier platformer, but that’s like saying a car accident is better for you than a train wreck.
