HerbieHerbie: Rescue Rally brings you extreme race courses filled with ramps jumps hills and tunnels for the player to speed through. The game's twisting and turning arcade-style racing is put into overdrive with exciting elements such as short-cuts pick-ups and wacky Herbie special moves. Herbie demands players draw on all their driving skills to become a champion. Herbie comes to the rescue of Louise Noble whose family's beloved animal sanctuary is in danger of being taken and turned into a toxic chemical factory by the dastardly Edward Vile and his E. Vile Corporation. Louise's only hope is to win the Cross States Rally and use the $1 million prize money to save the sanctuary. The game follows the adventures of Louise and Herbie as they attempt to win every event in the Grand Race going against Herbie's evil opponent Herman who is actually owned by the E. Vile Corporation. It’s rare that a licensed game is worth playing for those uninterested in the license, but this is one of those games that earned that distinction.
  2. The action is high from beginning to end. The only problem: the end comes up very fast. Herbie's goal of saving an animal sanctuary can be finished in well under 90 minutes.
  3. 73
Rescue Rally is a solid title, with a lot of great elements, and makes the most of the limited technology to offer a well rounded racing title.
  4. Ridiculously easy yet frustrating all at once. [Aug 2007, p.70]
  5. Herbie Rescue Rally might entertain the kids for a bit, but they'll likely grow frustrated with the collisions and rather boring tracks that fail to deliver the excitement promised by the packaging.
