  1. This is a pick-up-and-play game in its purest form, albeit with a uniquely tropical control set-up that hasn’t been utilised anywhere else before, sans its neglected prequel.
  2. If I was wearing a hat, I'd doff it to the DS development team at Nintendo, who for me can do no wrong... or rather I would, except that I need both hands to control DK, so maybe it's best that I'm not wearing one. This is though, another definite winner from the big N.

    Once again, the Big N delivers with a unique gameplay experience, visuals that are, in the very least, fun, music and sound effects that hark back to a simpler time and any gamer's holy grail - a giant, luminous space banana. Happy climbing!

    The lackluster multiplayer mode and lame character designs don't take anything away from the main game, though. The swinging play mechanic helps keep things fresh and allows for a lot of technique that you don't normally see in a platformer.

    DK: Jungle Climber is arguably more of what we saw in King of Swing, but with updated graphics. For those who felt that game was already a one-trick pony, it may be an undesirable sequel, but tons of hard-to-reach collectibles, unlockable mini-games, and four-player downloadable battles will keep the rest of us honing our skills for hours.

  21. We don't like the story, save for the talking banana aliens (fo fanana), and the whole peg grabbing stuff doesn't light our fire, but Jungle Climber is a cute, simplistic adventure game that anyone can get into, and the addition of four person multiplayer adds to its banana eating appeal.
  22. New players will likely get a kick out of the interesting control mechanics. Things may turn sour, however, once they get a taste of the game's occasionally grueling difficulty.

    Though it gets slightly tiresome by the conclusion, Jungle Climber makes the most of its peg mechanic and provides a fresh change of pace from the familiar Mario side-scrolling school of thought.
  24. This is quite a contradictory game. The console has so many titles available that this one doesn’t really stand out, but it’s nevertheless a good Donkey Kong. Some of the levels are really creative, but others become quite frustrating because they require too much of the controls, which are innovative but not very precise. [Jan 2008]

    Maybe the most underrated game on the DS.

    I had a TON of fun with this game. It is one of these games that just feels great when you play
    it. You just want to jump and climb from wall to wall because it simply feels great.

    I can recommend it with confidence for anyone who wants to try a different kind of gameplay.
