Gaming Age (33/100) "There's hardly any redeeming factors in the entire game. It's too complex to appeal to casual or young gamers, and at the same time, it's too basic an silly to appeal to mature gamers." This to me is the EXACT reason it IS appealing, I would come under their "mature players" umbrella, yet the simplicity to me, is the beauty of the game, It isn't an intense RPG with massively overpowered enemies, that will take you a long time to advance through. Yet it follows the formula, and as such presents itself as an easy bitsized (content-wise not time consumption-wise) RPG to play against friends when you have a bit of spare time. Which I find to be a positive thing, of course there are some aspects that are irksome, but I'm yet to play a perfect game, and I don't find them severe enough to detract from the overall experience. 1. As you might expect, facing computer-controlled opponents in an RPG-themed board game is a dreadful bore. [May 2009, p.89]

Overall, Dokapon Journey is a refreshing game.

If you're willing to put aside any and all presentation/visual downsides, Dokapon Journey is an entertaining offering for DS owners that don't have any way to buy Dokapon Kingdom on Wii or PS2, or love the series so much they need a portable version.
