Feb 14, 201175What it lacks in sophistication it manages to make up for in being longer and more difficult, which should be more than enough to please ardent fans, if not more casual RPG enthusiasts.
-
Mar 26, 201180If you weren't swayed by its predecessors, then move along, but for everyone else, this is another standout entry in a series that stubbornly yet successfully stands by its trusted traditions that makes the series a continued classic across the world.
-
Feb 21, 201162Unfortunately, the only really interesting aspect of the game was taken out of the remake, so the best that can be said of the game is that it's not bad. I was definitely never tempted to hate Dragon Quest VI.
-
May 19, 201190Releasing it after the more advanced Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies may not have been the wisest of moves, as fans of the latest entry in the series might not stand for the more retro look of Dragon Quest VI. However, those ready to look past that are certain to find a compelling and well-developed story by the series' standards, and lots of fun moments, all packed into one of the best RPG experiences to grace the now aging Nintendo DS.
-
Feb 24, 201180This classic RPG has finally come to North America and will keep fans of the series and newcomers happy and busy for some time as they travel the Realms of Revelation.
-
Feb 23, 201184Newcomers to the series might want to start their Dragon Quest experience with IV, V, or IX but for fans or those who are looking for more Zenethian adventures, Realms of Revelation is a lengthy addition to the DS's Dragon Quest lineup.
-
May 31, 201180Considering the overall quality of the adventure, Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation proves to be an essential purchase for any fan of the genre. It surely won't disappoint you.
-
Jun 27, 201180DQ VI is a classic that deserves attention from the lovers of the genre.
-
Jun 14, 201180This last DQ remake for Nintendo DS is, as the first two other chapters, an impressive conversion of an old time classic.
-
Feb 9, 201185Surprisingly, I found myself enjoying DQ VI more than its technically superior descendant. Maybe it's easier to forgive dusty design choices knowing that this was originally a 16-bit game, or maybe it's because DQ VI embraces the mile-a-minute imagination and sense of adventure that made me fall in love with RPGs as a kid.
-
Mar 7, 201180Dragon Quest VI is another great title in this series that still manages to hold intrigue and charm amongst hardcore and casual RPG fans.
-
Jun 6, 20118016 years later, Dragon Quest VI finally gets released in our countries, as a portable remake with two screens and a beautiful 3D graphics overhaul. The game itself didn't change, which will please the purists but may also frighten the beginners... A lack of clear directions throughout the game, a crual save system and an impressive length can be daunting nowadays. Apart from that, the game is epic and it will delight all fans of J-RPG who likes gigantic maps, side quests and the challenge that may represent a class system somewhat "hostile. " Beginners are advised to start with Dragon Quest V, which is shorter and less dificult, before moving up to DQ6.
-
Mar 8, 201178If you have already had your fill of the fourth and fifth chapters and are still clamoring for more nostalgic level grinding, then this will fill that void. Just don't come in expecting a shining example of what the genre had available at the time.
-
May 17, 201180Quotation forthcoming.
-
May 24, 201170We like the exploring and the story, but the random encounters are a drag.
-
Jul 8, 201175As accessible as a Romanian arthouse film festival, but learn the lingo and find hours of fun. [Aug 2011, p.92]
-
Mar 9, 201167I wouldn't say that Dragon Quest VI is a bad game, it just lacks a lot of the modern conveniences that JRPGs have incorporated since the game was initially released.
-
Mar 14, 201175Absorbing gameplay and an epic plot make this Dragon Quest remake worth the wait.
-
Feb 16, 201180There really isn't anything to wrong with the game other than it feeling more old than old school on occasion.
-
Feb 14, 201185The DS has been good to RPG fans over the years, so it's somewhat poetic that Dragon Quest VI sees the system off into the sunset. It's a game that lets veterans reminisce over days gone by, while allowing newcomers to revel in a golden era they may have otherwise never known.
-
May 11, 201169In the end, if you like this kind of game, complete with turn-based fights and random encounters, then you'll have next to nothing to complain about, but for those who find this isn't their cup of tea, they'll be hard-pressed to find many things they like. Dragon Quest VI is already available in stores for the Nintendo DS.
-
Mar 21, 201176Dragon Quest VI is a good role playing video game, strongly attached to classic genre conventions like round based fights and a free choose able talent tree. But we've already seen this in 1995.
-
Feb 18, 201170Dragon Quest VI will appeal to a very limited demographic of gamers. While Dragon Quest VI's archaic nature is exactly what hardcore Dragon Quest fans and some JRPG fans crave, it will turn just about everyone else off.
-
May 31, 201176In conclusion, Dragon Quest VI is pure Japanese RPG and harkens back to a simpler time of exploration, turn-based combat and characters that sometimes never stop talking... err... texting. The problem with Dragon Quest VI is that it doesn't offer the player anything new in terms of new gameplay which is like playing a similar game of this genre 5 or 10 years ago. However there is something endearing about this title that offers both relaxation and excitement. Even though I've seen it all before, there was something inside me that wanted me to keep playing due to the combat, class customisation, discoveries and to an extent the story.
-
Feb 18, 201180It's not a bad game, but it's certainly not a friendly game -- something that you'd notice even if you weren't coming off of Dragon Quest IX, and something that is only exacerbated for those who are.
-
Aug 29, 201180Outstanding Japanese RPG thrills with story and combat system and offers tens of hours of pure adventure entertainment. [Issue#207]
-
May 30, 201160Definitely one of the lesser entries in the Dragon Quest franchise, but still a loving remake for those that can stomach the overfamiliarity.
-
Jun 17, 201180Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation is one of the best entries in the franchise but nowadays it's easy to notice how old some of its core features are if compared to the most recent installments of the Dragon Quest saga itself.
-
Apr 23, 201183This is the Dragon Quest that we know and love. [Apr 2011, p.54]
-
Feb 20, 201190Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation might not be as flashy or intricate as Dragon Quest IX was, but that certainly doesn't keep the game from being every bit as charming and engaging.
