  1. Inoffensive, with samey levels and enemies, and unchallenging boss fights. [May 2008, p.75]
  2. The plodding and imperfect gameplay, poor visuals, nonexistent story, and terrible controls combine to create an experience best avoided.
  3. If you're looking for some mindless monster mashing stick with the versus fight-focused PS2 or Wii versions or, better yet, revisit the arcade classic Rampage.
  4. Godzilla Unleashed: Double Smash feels like something is missing. The game had the potential of being an excellent fighting title but in the end, this monster is feeling rather hollow.
  5. 30
None of the recent Godzilla games have been very good, but at least they were fun. Godzilla: Unleashed Double Smash cannot make this claim. It looks terrible, and reduces the King of the Monsters to a mush of no-texture polygons, then puts him in a tedious series of punching planes and kicking boats.
  6. After having hernia surgery, a friend (seeing how much pain I was in) turned to me and said, "It could always be worse." Remember that while playing Godzilla Unleashed: Double Smash. It could always be worse.
  7. The slow decent in "Godzilla" games has finally hit rock bottom. [Jan 2008, p.89]
  8. With incredibly boring and repetitive gameplay, it's pretty much impossible to recommend Godzilla Unleashed: Double Smash to anybody.
  9. Godzilla, Godzilla, Godzilla. How could you do this to yourself? Your gameplay - horrendous. Your graphics - atrocious. Your sound - there's sound? I can't stress enough how bad of a game, no, a poor excuse of a game, Godzilla Unleashed: Double Smash actually is. It is broken and much like Godzilla himself, will make children run in fear.
  10. A good idea, an imaginative tale, a scary but heart-warming hero and some lovely childhood memories are all completely wiped out by this atrocious game.
  11. The King of Monsters stars in the worst of DS games.
  12. Somebody let the collar off this lizard a little too soon.
  13. Godzilla Unleashed is a slow, boring and easy 2D action game that fails miserably on every level. With its terrible controls and short story mode, this Godzilla game is only good for testing your Nintendo DS to make sure it still works.
  14. This game makes the American remake of Godzilla look like an Oscar contender. It's an affront to not only fans of Godzilla, but fans of fun. The gameplay is uninspired, and there is no redeeming quality to make it bearable.
  15. 20
This brain-dead combat is perhaps the worst part of Double Smash. Slowly plodding through the stale levels, fighting the same enemies, and using the same techniques to win grows old almost immediately.
  16. 16
I simply cannot understand the half-arsed approach that has been taken with Godzilla; I played more engaging games 15 years ago on the GameBoy. With every level taking exactly the same design but with a slightly different background it reaches new levels of repetition.
  17. Godzilla Unleashed: Double Smash for the Nintendo DS is a disgrace and literally no one should buy or even think about this game.
  18. Everything about this game, from the simplistic graphics and the incoherent story to the lack of a workable save system and the horrible hit detection speak to a rushed effort. Even the manual is filled with errors, with the table of contents pointing to sections that don't exist.

  1. A shallow, horrible looking game that loses its appeal within a half hour. The game is devoid of story and gameplay is a jumbled mess. There is no real reason to buy this game. Full Review »

The reviews are al spot on if you are a 30 year old Godzilla fan. However if you are a kid and looking for a good time this is a great game. I got this for my kids and they cannot stop playing this game. Full Review »
