A great puzzle game that is easy to play and difficult to master. While the game was obviously inspired by Lumines, the gameplay is different enough to make Gunpey interesting and challenging in its own right.
Overall A puzzler that's more demanding than Lumines, but is engaging and satisfying if you can hack the pace.
Snapping out of your glazed-eye reverie to find you've added a few points to the high-score table. Well Gunpey-R's sort of like that. Not quite as good. But it's almost as good, and that's a pretty significant achievement after all.
Even for a puzzle fiend such as myself, I can't see myself playing Gunpey ever again. It just doesn't have that intangible addictive quality that makes up a great puzzler.
There's no problem with a Q puzzler that's tougher than previous titles; it just shouldn't be so cheap. [Holiday 2006, p.82]
Even the Ad Hoc multiplayer mode can't rescue the title from being just another failed puzzler. [May 2007, p.84]
