Harvest Moon DS: Grand Bazaar Image
  • Summary: Zephyr Town's bazaar was once the grandest in the world, drawing customers and peddlers from all four corners of the Earth. These days, though, the bazaar has more tumbleweeds than customers. It's up to the player to turn its fortunes around! They'll raise animals, harvest crops, craft rare delicacies, and then sell their wares at their very own shop. If players can bring prosperity back to Zephyr town, its bazaar will thrive once again, packed with exotic wares that they can purchase to expand their farm! Expand

Grand Bazaar is a good episode of a saga always equal to itself. The introduction of the bazaar is an idea that worked well and the constant support offered will help beginners to learn the basic gameplay of Harvest Moon.

Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar continues to experiment with the franchise, in part for the better. The addition of the market brings a new element to the series and the core farming entertains and addicts as ever, but what lets it down is the lack of town activity. Without an invigorating community environment, though, Grand Bazaar doesn't quite reach the heights that it should.

  1. There have been what I would say, many Harvest Moon games, but it still impresses me after all this time. I don't have a Facebook so I have never tried Farmville, but if this is what it’s like I might want to check it out! This is so far the best farming sim I have ever seen! After the past 4 games this Harvest Moon still uses the same formula (grow crops, raise animals, etc.), but a new feature called the Grand Bazaar is what it’s all about. When I first turned it on I instantly noticed the visuals. Not only are they great for a DS game, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen this kind of art style in a DS game before. After picking my gender and naming my farmer I was introduced to the town by the mayor. I was shown my farm (which I named Chase Farm). I then received a hoe so I can be able to make the area I want to farm on farmable. I then received 5 turnip seed packets which I all planted. When I received my Watering can I could water the crops and then sprinkle them with the fertilizer I had received. This quickly became addicting and I started making Turnip salad with the turnips I harvested. When you harvest crops you can cook them with a recipe or you can start mixing right away. But sometimes you just might want to save them for the towns Bazaar (held every week). My first bazaar I sold several stuff I just find around town such as a rock or a flower. The pacing in this game is slow, when I want to get a pig for my farm I was told to pay 8000, but I had only made 1,500 that bazaar. It would take several in-game weeks for me to get to the next level. Overall this is a very great experience in a Ds game and I hope for a more improved harvest moon game for the DS in the future. 2. Not nearly as great as all the other harvest moon ds titles. Seems like something is missing to me. I played for awhile and then lost interest much sooner than even I expected, and I love games that take forever to level up or earn money etc. I do think of course I'll get back to this game. I hope it will have more to offer than it does at the start and a few seasons in. Still love harvest moon games. Perhaps they rushed a bit on this one. The bazzar element is a great idea and seems to work well, pretty fun too! Just happens only 4 times a season. Weekly does make sense though! :). High hopes for the next one Expand
