  • Summary: How to Train Your Dragon video game launches gamers into a third-person action-adventure as a Viking hero where they must embark upon an epic quest to become the ultimate dragon trainer. Gamers can play as characters “Hiccup” or Astrid” on the vast Island of Berk, which features expanded locales from the film including Vikings’ Village, Wild Zone, Training Zone and Fight Arena. In this truly larger-than-life adventure, players will train dragons, explore environments and battle in prestigious dragon tournaments as they battle for Viking victory. Plus, gamers can become the Dragon hero of their living room as they square-off with friends and family in endless head-to-head multi-player combat. [Activision] Expand

  1. If you’re looking for the best version of the game to buy for the little Dragon fan in your life, the DS should be your first choice. The light RPG elements will challenge younger gamers, but never oversteps into frustrating territory.
  2. Make no doubt, How To Train Your Dragon on the DS is a veritable clone of the Pokémon series, which actually works in its favor – at least when compared to the console versions all of which seem to be experiencing an identity crisis.
  3. Better than the usual movie-to-game ports. Instead of re-enacting the story of the film we can train our dragon and send him into nice-looking, but far too easy fights.
  4. For fans worth a look, but nevertheless, the fighting is getting quickly monotonous and motivation decreases quickly. Even the unlockable, new attacks are not an incentive, as most attacks have similar effects and there is not too much variety.
  5. Games aren’t beauty pageants, though, and while this game looks good, it isn’t really that interesting.
  6. The combat is pedestrian and repetitive. [May 2010, p.69]
  7. I suppose my question is this: why buy How to Train Your Dragon when you can buy Pokemon games on the DS instead?

I like the way you have to fight with the dragons in this game it has great graphics and it is awesome!!! and even the armor making made this a wonderful and enjoyable game. From making armor for your dragon to battling and getting and buying food this is one of the all time best ds/dsi games. Expand
