  1. Bakushow is the very definition of a cheap and cheerful game - perfect for those whose wit is as sharp as their stylus. [Sept 2008, p.96]
  2. So entertaining. Get a group of creative friends round and your evening's entertainment is sorted! Wonderful. [Issue#25, p.75]

If you find yourself the baffled over ways to entertain your guests at a gathering, it might be money well spent.

LOL doesn't do anything revolutionary for the DS or for party games in general, but it's a lot of fun and easy to use. If you and your friends crack each other up, you'll do the same with LOL.
  5. As Chandler once said on Friends, this game is silly because it knows that “we enjoy the silliness.” Hmmm, that gives me an idea for another challenge.
  6. With the right people involved, this can turn a dull bus ride or airport lounge into an extremely good fun, and crucially, a very personal gaming session. [Aug 2008, p.112]
  7. You want to take this game seriously, you can do that. You want to goof around and draw naked stick figures, you can do that.
  8. Bakushow is really as good as the people that it’s played with; fortunately, I played it with some great people. It feels a little incomplete in places, however, and there’s a lot of room for change if a second is to come out. The lack of colours and a keyboard is criminal, but the game is great fun overall as long as being spoon-fed isn’t something you enjoy.
  9. LOL certainly brought out the funny in the NGamer office, but apart from that this is about as lightweight as DS games come. [Sept 2008, p.64]

LOL is as deep as you want to make it, but it only takes a matter of hours until it gets old.
  11. A rough draft for what could become a masterpiece, Bakushow is messy, unfinished and not yet worth the money.

If you've got three enthusiastic mates, preferably each willing to chip in for the game, then there's a lot of fun to be had here. But, for most people, it would probably be cheaper and easier to stick with plain ol' Pictionary.
  13. While LOL is a good idea and genuinely is a lot of fun, it lacks many necessary features and options to make it recommendable over just using Pictochat.
  14. The “multiplayer only” tag is sure to put many off from considering the purchase at the current time.
  15. In short, LOL is not worth it. The complete lack of single-player gameplay in any form, of enough actual gameplay to make a full game out of it, or, well, anything of interest that you cannot do with Pictochat makes its premise essentially useless to pretty much all players.
  16. 25
But I just can't give this game a legitimate score because this program essentially already exists with more font and typing options, wider use and less annoying mechanics. FOR FREE!
  17. Seriously, it's hard to justify Bakushow in a world where Pictochat exists for free, as every critic in the world will probably point out.

Bakushow is, in a way, a tough game to score. I mean, its rubbish, but it does do exactly what it claims to and does it perfectly well. The fact that what it does is quite clearly the most pointless game concept in all of history is obviously a bad thing but it doesn't try to hide its flawed plan so anyone who buys it is hardly in a position to complain.
  19. Marginally more than Picto-Chat which comes free with every DS, there's literally nothing that we can recommend about Bakushow.
  20. Congratulations, you just spent $20 on 10 minutes of gameplay! [Aug 2008, p.91]
