In the end, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is a great game. Sega took the solid foundation of the first title, addressed many of the concerns found with it, and made an excellent sequel that does justice to both the Olympic Winter Games and the Mario and Sonic universe. If you liked the first Mario and Sonic Olympic game, don't hesitate to give this one a try.
Splendid compilation of minigames offers lots of fun especially in multiplayer mode. Anyone will enjoy the arcade version of otherwise boring winter sport disciplines. [Nov 2009]

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is finally here with a bunch of new gameplay modes, a quite impressive graphic engine but lacking an online feature. It still has some issues in the controls but it's definitely a better game than the original one. A must-have if you're looking to have some fun with a couple friends.
While the shortcomings are obvious, this is a cut above most Wii-based mini game fare. [Christmas 2009, p.126]
As it stands now, Mario and Sonic Olympic does have some scope as an entertaining multiplayer game, but isn't really thrilling enough to be remembered as a classic outing for these videogames icons.
Fundamentally the game is broken, and so any set dressing, from the squeaky tones of Toad, or the way that Knuckles reacts when he wins a race, this is a game that Wii owners should avoid.
So much of what’s here has been done before in other games, and better, faster, and stronger.
It has more to offer than the first game but I still liked the first game more i'm still not sure why, but if you liked the first game then you should like this one.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is just the first game, but this time they make more than a throw-away April-Fools inspired minigame collection by making a... less... throw-away April-Fools inspired minigame collection. But seriously, this one does feel like it has some heart put into it. It introduces dream events which are fun to play plus it expands on the mediocre minigames from the predecessor on either the Wii or the DS and makes some of the best minigames in the series. There again, the Olympics never translate great into a video game and although the motion controls help, its fine.

Has plenty of different sports like skiing and even ice skating. But this should be a game that's sold on its multiplayer capabilities and the multiplayer experience is very poor. Apart from a handful of racing tracks in some kind of "dream" mode that's not even based on real sports, every sport in this game is played one-at-a-time. That's right, almost all of the multiplayer involves sitting and watching while waiting for your turn.
