A strange PES experience that wins you over not through its football but with its quirks. [Apr 2008, p.82]
-
It's fun, it's just not top of the table. [Issue#20, p.88]

60You're probably as well-served going for FIFA '08 on DS than you are this. That said, this is a decent attempt at portable football on the DS that carries Pro Evo's name, though don't let it fool you into thinking it's anywhere near as majestic as other versions.
-
60Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is more playable than its predecessor, but it's just as muddled and unimaginative.
-
55The Nintendo DS isn't really a sports powerhouse game system, but it really deserves better than this.
-
47With FIFA already offering a fairly respectable portrayal of the sport on the DS, there’s no reason to even consider purchasing Pro Evolution Soccer 2008; it’s a redundant retread of already barren ground, failing as both an update or a standalone title.
-
45The previous niggles remain, and nothing was done to make matters more pleasant. It's difficult to enjoy PES 2008 on DS when clearly not even Konami was passionate about it.
-
Offering no discernible improvement over its lacklustre predecessor and paling in comparison to more accomplished DS football titles, PES 2008 is best relegated to bench-warming duty.
