  1. The game has a great presentation, coupled with enjoyable combat and puzzles and good use of the touch screen.
  2. This is a decent game for kids, and adults who refuse to grow up. You may not want to go see the movie again, but the game can at least keep your kids entertained in their need for more Shrek and Co.
  3. A charming title that is fun, challenging, and perfect for the entire family. It mixes action and combat with a bit of puzzle solving and does a great job of promoting teamwork, an important value for the kids this game hopes to target.
  4. Shrek the Third does a great job at capturing the feel of the Dreamworks picture by the same name. Whimsical music and sharp-witted writing are the highlights of the title, with the puzzle-centric action keeping adults entertained as well.

The mix of old school 2D platforming action against a 3D backdrop, makes for an incredibly entertaining game for just about everyone. Couple this with the amazingly crisp and colorful visuals and you have a licensed game that will finally be deserving of its sales.
  6. Graphically, Shrek the Third is top-notch, offering superb 3D environments that are displayed on each DS screen. There’s an attention to detail in all of the varied environments that bring the world of Shrek to life.
  7. It might not be the flashiest or most original movie tie-in game, but Shrek the Third does its job and uses the DS’s abilities for a fun and creative experience. Older players might not be too interested, but this game is good for younger kids who liked the movie.
  8. The big green ogre saves his best outing for the Nintendo DS.

Shrek the Third has a lot of the humor and charm of the film series, a unique plot, innovative controls and a rather neat multiplayer feature. It suffers from some of those controls being hard to use and ultimately still being a short movie game that is too easy for anyone that isn't in elementary school.
  10. The degree of challenge and polish never quite ramps up to where it ought to be, but Shrek the Third is a good time nonetheless. [July 2007, p.93]
  11. Juggling the different characters' abilities is interesting, though some may not like the repetition or the game's gradual pace.

Although the touch screen controls are irritating at times, you may just find yourself enjoying Shrek in spite of them.
  13. For visuals, we have the weakest area of the game.
  14. In fact, I might go so far as to say a parent might enjoy playing this title while their kid is doing his homework. Though I still wouldn't recommend they buy it for themselves.
  15. It makes chess look like [a] snap and will make children cry. [Sept 2007, p.71]
  16. A pretty but repetitive puzzle-based adventure, Shrek the Third feels more like completing a series of chores than having monster-sized fun.
