  • Summary: Players take on the role of the characters from the Speed Racer film, getting behind the wheels of each character’s signature vehicles to experience first hand the film’s high adrenaline, combative racing style. The car-fu style of action within the game closely represent the action style dle designed by the Wachowski brothers for the film itself as they lend direction and assets to the development team directly from their Berlin set. Written and directed by the Wachowski brothers and produced by Joel Silver, Speed Racer is based on the classic series created by anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida. Speed Racer follows the young race car driver Speed in his quest for glory on and off the track in his thundering Mach 5. The film features other characters that fans of the show remember, including Speed's family and his mysterious arch-rival, Racer X. [Warner Bros.] Collapse

  1. The high-speed racing, combined with a dedicated combat interface, makes for a exciting mix without placing too much emphasis on the vehicle-versus-vehicle matches.
  2. Speed Racer The Videogame is surprisingly good. Very good. It blends fun gameplay with superb graphics. Its biggest problem is that there isn't more to play; the single player can be conquered in a fairly short period of time, and the lack of a story means there isn't a whole lot of pay-off for doing so.
  3. Speed Racer's entertainingly off-the-wall fun already puts it ahead of other titles that bank on a movie license to draw in fans.
  4. While those negatives seem significant on paper, the reality is that when you're actually playing, you'll find that the game's intensity has a way of luring you back for more.
