A decidedly capable arcade-style flyer that’s a bit short on content, but big on tight gameplay and challenge. If you can find someone to play the multiplayer modes with, you’ll be better served by this title, but the singe-player campaign is well worth playing as well.
Unless you like flight simulators, you may want to avoid this game. And even if you do, you may not want to pay the full price tag.
It handles well enough, and the missions provide a hefty amount of challenge, but it's ultimately repetitive and short.
And the environments! Catastrophically dull. [July 2008, p.72]
Spitfire Heroes does little to distinguish itself among a myriad of middling flight combat games on the DS.
The developers might have had their hearts in the right place, but the DS platform is just not the right way to go for what they might have been trying to accomplish. Spitfire Heroes buys the farm on this sortie.
Spitfire Heroes’ gameplay can be confusing and annoying all at once.
